A closer look at the Nike shoes is encouraging. Dramatic design should be appealing to players and fans. Perhaps this is key feature from Nike's perspective. Makes sense for a shoe company.

Just don't know why they don't go back to the Pony Express days & call it quits??? Everyone loved them & that's the way it was - & still is.

We still need to develop our own unique uniform and stick with it. Most of the great uniforms in sports are the traditional uniforms they have used for decades and everyone immediately recognizes it and the brand. This is another somewhat poor attempt by Nike to design a uniform with little distinction or flare. We need mustangs on the jersey that are visible and trash the stripes on the shoulder. Why not replace the boring stripes with a red,or better yet, blue mustang so that all media related coverage knows the brand. Pants are boring and generic. If it were not for the great mustang logo helmet the uniform would look like every other low cost/budget high school uniform in the country.

These are awful. Bring back the classic Pony Express look.

So true - and they even screwed up the helmet with the striping thickness. It's amazing they can get away with it.

Once again, they ditched the good parts and kept the bad parts.

What else would you expect from nike. They have always treated us like crap. Maybe the new AD can do something to change vendors. Obviously SO sold us down the river.

Would I prefer the classic Pony Express uniforms? Yes. Do I like these as much? No. But some of the comments on here and in other threads are absurd.

- Nike treats us like crap. Nike didn't try to make our uniforms worse. They tried to design a uniform they thought would be appealing.

- Nike has no respect for our tradition. Well neither do we apparently because it was us that chose to move to Ole Miss copycat uniforms in the Bennett era- that wasn't Nike's doing.

- Most of the great uniforms are traditional and have been used forever. I agree with this 100%. But, most of these teams have always stuck with their traditional uniform because they have consistently been great. If the Celtics, Yankees, Lakers, UMich, Texas, ND, USC etc were a complete nonfactor for a 25 year stretch of their history- they might not have been so inclined to adhere so closely to the uniforms they have always worn. Those teams haven't been great because they have always had the same uniform- their strong brands are a direct result of WINNING for a long @ss time! And even many of them have introduced changes to their unis (Boston has black ones- gasp! UMich wore 6 different uni combos last year. etc.)

I love our Pony Express uniforms and ideally would like to have them. But I'd rather go on the field, kick @ss, start a new tradition of winning, and be on this board in 20 years when people are enraged that we would ever consider changing these uniforms because we just spent the past 20 years as a top college football program.

PS I love the pictures and this is the way we should have rolled these out in the first place.
