You want the one on Speight and not the one in suburbs I would assume. The one on Speight is the original and has a better atmosphere (where everyone will be going), but the one in the burbs is a bit nicer and less crowded. I also like Vitek's which has a free shuttle over to the stadium too.

Hey BH,
I am driving down with my two sons, and plan on arriving 60-90 minutes before the game. We are spending the night at the Marriott, so will probably hit George's after the game. Any recommendations on convenient places to park and walk or park and shuttle? Looking forward to the game. Thanks.

I always park in at a house near the stadium for $5 and parking is pretty easy since the current stadium is off campus, but you can park for free at Vitek's on Speight (the Baylor side of Speight across I-35 from George's) and they have a free shuttle. There are shuttles that anyone can ride that leave from in front of the bookstore, but finding on-campus parking can be difficult. I'm pretty sure there is a shuttle from downtown (the Hilton I think) that runs to the stadium, but I've never used it.

Five bucks it is. Appreciate the info. Thanks!

What would you think of a Wacoan that claimed the only place to drink in Dallas was the West End? What do you think of a traveler to “Dallas” who claims there is nothing to do in Dallas, only to discover he spent his whole time in Frisco? Misinformed? Ignorant? Behind the times? Well, that’s just what we Baylor folks think of your comment.
I grew up in Highland Park, so I understand your perception of Waco. But I was wrong and so are you. Don’t go to Waco expecting Las Vegas. Go to Waco expecting a regular college town and you won’t leave disappointed.
Waco has bars. It doesn’t have lounges. It doesn’t have ultra lounges. In fact, I’d wager that it has more happening downtown than Dallas. Eastdallasloco wasn’t exaggerating when he said there were dozens of bars in Waco. But if you want to put blinders on and have an average time in Waco, don’t listen to me. Here’s a list of bars and restaurants I’d recommend:
DOWNTOWN
Buzzard Billy’s for good Cajun food overlooking downtown and the Brazos River.
http://www.buzzardbillys.com/waco/
100 North Interstate 35
Waco, TX 76704
Cricket's Grill & Draft House – over 100 beers on tap in downtown Waco. Shuffleboard, pool, darts, big TVs and comfortable seating area. Great cheese fries. Good burgers.

211 Mary Ave
Waco, TX 76701
Ninfa’s Mexican Restaurant – great Mexican food and margaritas in downtown Waco next to Crickets
http://www.yelp.com/biz/ninfas-mexican-restaurant-waco
215 Mary Ave
Waco, TX 76701
Diamond Backs – a Waco steakhouse downtown next to Crickets and Ninfas. Good quality. But it’s no Nick & Sam’s.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/diamond-backs-waco
217 Mary Ave
Waco, TX 76701
Sam’s on the Square – people rave about the Korean tacos. It’s got live music and is near all the other places mentioned here.
http://www.samsonthesquare.com/
330 Austin Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Barnett’s Pub downtown – if you want a little Irish in you, near Treffs.
http://www.barnettspub.com/
420 Franklin Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Treff’s – bar with live music in the middle of downtown Waco.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/treffs-bar-and-grill-waco
520 Austin Ave
Waco, TX 76701
Fifth Street Ice House – bar with live music in downtown Waco next to Treffs.

500 Austin Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Legends – a bar with live music in downtown Waco. Near everything else mentioned here.

618 Franklin Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Trojan Cork & Keg – bar with live music in downtown Waco, near Fifth Street Ice House, Treffs, Crickets and Ninfas.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/trojan-cork-and-keg-waco
215 Mary Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Klassy Glass – I have two rules in life. 1) If a place calls itself classy, it is not classy. 2) If a place spells something with a K instead of a C, it’s krappy. It’s got live music, near everything else mentioned. Supposed to have a good montecristo sandwich.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/klassy-glass-wine-bar-waco
723 Austin Avenue
Waco, TX 76701
Tres Mexican Restaurant good Mexican food. Cheap drinks.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/tres-mexican-restaurant-waco
723 South 6th
Waco, TX 76706
BAYLOR
The Dancing Bear Pub – one of the best pubs you’ll go to anywhere. It’s within walking distance of Baylor.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-dancing-bear-pub-waco
1117 Speight Ave
Waco, TX 76706
Vitek’s BBQ -- I miss the gutpak. It’s a glorified Frito-pie with BBQ brisket, sauce, jalapenos, cheese, pickles, onions all mixed together in delicious goodness. Has a cool Beer Garden with live music.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/viteks-bar-b-q-waco
1600 Speight Ave
Waco, TX 76706
Scruffy Murphy’s – a dive bar. But in Waco, we just call it a bar. No food. Just loud, billiards, cheap drinks and coeds looking for trouble.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/scruffy-murphys-waco
1226 Speight Ave
Waco, TX 76706
Cupps Drive Inn – if you like a greasy spoon. I don’t know how this place is still standing. I’m pretty sure it’s been there since Baylor was founded in 1845. And I’m sure the old lady with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth who is cooking your hamburger has been there since the Taft administration. It’s impressive how her long ash doesn’t fall into the food… or does it? No alcohol. Just grease (and probably a little ash).
http://www.yelp.com/biz/cupps-drive-inn-waco
Health Camp – on the Circle in Waco. Tiny place but has great shakes. No alcohol. Just grease. See Cupps above.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/health-camp-waco
Rudy’s BBQ – On the Circle about halfway between Baylor and the stadium. Great brisket. Better BBQ than anything in Dallas.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/rudys-country-s ... 20barbeque
2510 Circle Rd
Waco, TX 76706
NEAR THE STADIUM
Salty Dog – Good sports bar near the stadium.
http://www.saltydogwaco.com/index.html
http://www.yelp.com/biz/salty-dog-waco
2004 N Valley Mills Dr
Waco, TX 76710
Schmaltz’s Sandwich Shop – Great place to take the kids for a good sandwich. Not a bar.
http://www.schmaltzssandwichshop.com/
http://www.yelp.com/biz/schmaltzs-sandwich-shop-waco-2
1412 N Valley Mills Dr
Waco, TX 76710
Kitoks – never tried a Korean Cheeseburger and oriental fries? Well, you’re missing out. It’s not a bar, looks a little scary and like a Chinese Restaurant. But it’s good place if you’re bringing kids to Waco and want to try something different. It’s relatively close to Georges.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/kitok-restauran ... ery:kitoks
1815 N 18th St
Waco, TX 76707
Uncle Dan’s Rib House – good place to take kids but still get a beer. Better BBQ than anything in Dallas.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/uncle-dans-rib- ... 20barbeque
1001 Lake Air Drive
Waco, Texas
The Elite Café – decent place. But it looks cooler than the food tastes. It’s on the Circle next to Rudy’s and Health Camp. Comfortable place to eat with kids.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-elite-cafe-waco
2132 S Valley Mills Dr
Waco, TX 76706
El Conquistador Restaurant – decent Mexican. Killer margaritas. You need a designated driver.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-conquistador-restaurant-waco
4508 W Waco Dr
Waco, TX 76710
Chuy’s – if you don’t feel like trying something new.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/chuys-fine-tex- ... restaurant
5501 Legend Lake Pkwy
Waco, TX 76712
The Broken Promise – a bar with live music on the weekends.
921 Lake Air Dr
Waco, TX 76710
PLACES TO KILL TIME
Dr. Pepper Museum – I worked here in college. It’s the original Dr Pepper factory from the late 1800s. Lots of fun history about this quintessential Texan drink. It’s downtown near a lot of the restaurants mentioned.
http://www.drpeppermuseum.com/About-Us/ ... epper.aspx
300 S. Fifth Street
Waco, TX 76701
Texas Ranger Museum. It’s the freaking Texas Rangers. It’s near Baylor on the interstate with the biggest Texas flag you’ll ever see. Not even an SMU girl could miss it.
http://www.texasranger.org/
100 Texas Ranger Trail
Waco, TX 76706
Cameron Park Zoo
A great little zoo near downtown.
http://www.cameronparkzoo.com/
1701 North 4th Street, Waco, Texas, 76707
Cameron Park
A large park near downtown with 200+ foot limestone cliffs overlooking the Brazos and Bosque Rivers. Also a good place to see flashers and hypodermic needles on weekdays.

I do love a Health Camp burger and shake but I'll be at George's for lunch and a margarita

That part about 4-5 Mexican chains, and 3-4 BBQ's got to me all excited about going to Waco-a little bit...but the Zoo and Museums might be a little too exciting. However, could you give us a little more information on that bar you described as having "cheap drinks and coeds looking for trouble"?

Ha!
It's called Scruffy Murphys, and referred to in town as "Scruffs." Coming from HP, the cinderblock building with an angry looking old-Irishman wielding a beer will look scary. But the girls piling in will make you not care. Check out the Bryn B review on Yelp. That's what the talent looks like before you'd had anything to drink. http://www.yelp.com/biz/scruffy-murphys-waco
Scruffs is just across the highway from George's. I've heard the Dancing Bear is the place to be on Sundays, but its relatively new so I'm not as experienced with it. Most Baylor alums will want a trip to Scruffs when going back to Waco. It's dank and full of coeds not looking to go back to their place.

too bad no girl at Baylor will put out. Tragic.

Yep BaylorHistory you are right,........ the location on Speight is the place to be....we will be there! Pony Up! Good luck Bears......but not really.

That's because lines like "your eyes are the same color as my Daddy's Porsche" don't work on a Baylor girl like they do for the loose women at SMU. Gotta up your game, Pony. Also, stop popping the collar on the polo. Looks like you're not into chicks (not that there's anything wrong with that). You're obviously used to the Craig James hookers at SMU.
Let me put it this way: my daughter will be strictly forbidden from Scruffs.

We are fine with SMU girls. They are better looking and are smart enough not to spend four years in Waco speaking in tongues.

I'm confused, isn't there a George's tailgate tent right by the stadium and a different location bar/restaurant?
Which makes more sense?

You got it wrong..the line is "your eyes are the same color as MY Porsche." Besides, all the Baylor girls get married Senior year..so I'll stick to SMU girls
