Oh, wow! This is so FREAKING awesome. Look at that support. Look at all the SMU swag. Ponyfans need to get behind the Dieter family. Very very impressive show of love/support. Can we get 5 more just like him please?

I think he has a younger brother? Another Line-like family tradition/pipeline?!? ;-)

Big BCS programs have 4-5 guys like Dieter in their rotation. Dieter needs to start now and get about 10 balls thrown his way/game - Holman has had many chances. Jeremy Johnson is a good athlete with good hands. He starts. DJ is a stud, he starts. Thompson has wheels, he starts. Rotate in Austin Fuller, Holman, Holleman (for blocking/decoy), and let's see what Stewart can do. There's really no reason this offense doesn't march down the field consistently and puts up 40+ on most CUSA defenses. Give Zach his 20 touches with 5 or so going to others and let's roll.

holleman can't catch very well.

Exactly. Which is why I said use him as a blocker/decoy. Damn shame, though, he can't catch.

Not sure you would want 1 of your 4 receivers in the run and shoot to just serve as a decoy.

Just finished rewatching the Baylor game. I know it is only 1 game, but this kid looks to be as good as advertised out of high school. Time for Holman to move over to get this kid some more burn. I love the way he uses his hands and fights for the ball.

Big receivers need to be great blockers. If he's in for 10 plays maybe you throw it to him once or twice, but the rest use him to run seams to run off DBs/safeties, block on the outside, and maybe a quick slant over the middle.

Hum-got to love Preston's confidence and he delivered. Give him some looks against SFA if Gilbert struggles again. Nothing should be etched in stone at the QB spot ...yet.

That’s really cool, I’m happy for him and his family/friends. It is so nice to have community support like that. Oh yea, I’m also happy for SMU, he’s ours for 3 more years. I was impressed with him in the Fall Camp, saw him go up and get it many times. The young man has played himself into well earned additional reps. He might not be a speed burner (what I heard), but he’s strong, aggressive, strong hands, great body control and can obviously get open. Guys that are not speedsters (again, not saying he is not), make up for it with these attributes. I believe we have an award named after someone that did not have jets on his back … "The Biletnikoff Award"

Great job #4, and congrats to the Dieter faithful.

What you saw Sunday night from Gehrig Dieter was just the tip of the iceberg, this young man has so much talent and dedication to the game that I could not even begin to describe. As a sophomore in High School I described him as a kid with vice grip like hands. Two years later I told someone that he was as far developed as a sophomore in High School as Jeff Samardzia of Notre Dame was as a sophomore in college. Folks, you are in for a treat. This young man is truly the most dedicated people that I have ever met. This is a guy that stops his car to play ball with young kids just to touch a football. Coach Jones saw found a diamond in Gehrig Dieter. I am fortunate enough to know his family and I can say that he gets his qualities from his family and friends. Pony Up!!!!!!

Plus he is a Mustang from the Hoosier state. There are not too many of us. These proud Hoosier 'stangs will be watching every game.

Me too. We badly needed a big outside WR like him in our offense. He's already one of my favorite players.

He should be starting now, but if the coaches hold back for another game or two to lessen pressure I'm ok with it as long as he's getting good reps.
