Ah...and there in lies our problem. Pretty hard to claim we belong in the BCS when we can't even be competitive with the BCS teams we play much less beat them...and we can't do either of those things if we don't play them. At this stage I would be happy if we were at least competitive when we play them.

So...BEAT the Aggies!!!!!!!
We play 8 BCS teams in conference next year so that should take care of your concern.
And in 2014 you play 0 "BCS" teams in conference.

Same with you in 2014. I was only referring to next year since that is still when the BCS conferences exist..

Getting blasted by Baylor did not either. In fact it got several players hurt but I think what he wants is a good shot at going 4-0 in OOC.
The solution to that is to recruit better players, not to recruit lesser talent and schedule lesser talent to compensate.

If we are going to compete with TCU and Baylor for the recruits we are going to have to play and beat as many BCS teams as possible. They play 8 or 9 per year and this year we only had a chance to play up to 4. I am a JJ supporter but it is time to play with the big boys and we can't recruit the types of players we need if we play in front of 12K people against Sunbelt teams.

Since we are not recruiting better players than Baylor or aTm then we need to do what Coach Jones is suggestion and make it a more manageable schedule.

Next year we play 12 BCS teams. It hurts the program when we get embarrassed like we did at Baylor. In fact after the game Billings took us out of his top 5. We have to think big picture and that is 1st getting enough wins to get to a bowl game. Kansas plays 8 or 9 teams per year and they can't recruit because they are getting blasted every week even if we sneak in a surprise win here and there. We will all find out next year when we have no tune up game and have to go from jump street. Remember JJ's offense needs about 3 or 4 games to get tune up every year. 1or 2 tough game and 2 tune up games is what we need. Boise has been doing that for years.

Scheduling does not make you a better team. Coaching and recruiting make you a better team. Scheduling better opponents helps recruiting. The Baylor, A&M, and TCU games are all on real TV (not Time Warner public access) and that is something you can sell to recruits. Playing in front of a full stadium is something you can sell to recruits.

This is year 5 of the June Jones era and we are only ready to handle 1 BCS opponent per year?!?! How are you guys buying that? Maybe by year 20 St. June will have us ready to play 4 BCS oppponents? If you guys are happy scheduling Sun Belt and Southland opponents, then we should just join one of those conferences, and put a big tarp over the North end zone seats and the whole upper bowl.

Then maybe June should have a better game plan. They knew exactly what was coming all game because our offense is very well known and has been solved by defensive coordinators. For a counterexample, look at Louisiana Monroe, who beat a much more talented opponent. Their coach has gotten creative and thrown in some of Kevin Kelley's philosophies. It caught Arkansas off guard and kept them in the game until they got the break they needed.

Kansas was 12-1 just 5 years ago. Coaching makes a huge difference!

Question: Imagine if SMU had gone undefeated this year including winning the Sugar Bowl.... would a home opener in 2013 against Stephen F. Austin be a sell out? Winning is overrated. SMU's non-conference games need to be LSU, USC, Texas etc..... I am honored A&M will play us in Dallas. As far as recruiting, spend $200,000 on a coach and $1,800,000 on a recruiting team or former NFL GM like Bill Polian. Steal scouts from the NFL. Recruiting isn't all about salesmanship, it's also about spotting talent. We have coaches but weak talent evaluators.

Winning is not overrated, sellouts are overrated. See Boise. TCU never had 4 BCS opponents on their schedule when they were in the MWC. Neither had Boise. We will have 12 BCS opponents next year so we will get to find out. Who cares about a selllout we need wins. Bama just played Western KY. Florida St played Savannah St. Tune up games are needed. Texas played Wyoming and TCU played Grambling. I am with Coach Jones on this one in that we should not want to be counterproductive to the program. Missing a bowl would not be good. ULM's recruiting will not be helped by the Arkansas win especially if they get blasted by Auburn and Baylor. What helps recruiting is conference affiliation and/or going undefeated. Jones knows what he is talking about. 2 OOC BCS teams would be fine but we get all 12 games as BCS teams in 2013.
