This. If we let them establish the run we lose, have to force them into low percentage deep throws. We can't afford to have our defense sitting back on their heels getting dinked, dunked and exhausted with underneath stuff. Need pressure from the front 7, need to force a young QB to hurry his throws, could lead to some turnover opportunities if we play aggressively enough.

Oh no, this is exactly the same talk as we did before the Baylor game. Regarding the defense, do you think they are the same level as UF D? I'm assuming not. Since JJ and the world say they're going to contain their QB, what do you think they're doing at practice probably. I'm thinking our only hope is GG hits hard and fast put the idea into ATM to score as quickly so they don't feel embarrassed and try to pick those off. I don't think he's going to scramble as much as he did the last game

If history is any guide, we will definitely shoot ourselves in the foot early and often. Stupid penalties and turnovers are what usually happens to a team that encounters superior talent almost across the board. I've seen it so many times before when the Ponies play quality Big-12 or SEC teams. Nothing I've seen in the first two weeks of this season tells me this game will be any different. When June makes comments about scheduling 3 Big-12 teams as being "counterproductive", that doesn't tell me he has a lot of confidence either.

Listen, if somehow we manage to win this thing I will GLADLY take all the [deleted] that is coming to me for making such a downer post! I love the Mustangs and want them to win every game. But A&M is a superior football team with superior athletes and its going to be really tough to execute effectively against that.

Yeah, but the game day atmosphere will be electric. It will feel like a real college football game. Full stadium. Battle of the bands. Win or lose, it will be fun. Of course I would prefer to win.

I can't remember the last time I saw this many trite expressions on what it takes to win a football game. I think we have a good chance if we play sound fundamental defense and make them drive 70-80 yards for scores. Try to limit their big plays longer than 25 yards. Blitzs will allow for big plays. As always we need to find a way to pressure the qb but at the same time trying to contain his Favre-like playmaking into Favre-like freshman mistakes. Offensively move the ball and be smart with the play-calls...no need to fling it on 3rd and 1, be patient and take advantage of what they give us. Don't put our defense in short field position early and the same with special teams play. Keep it close going into the fourth quarter and the hard offseason work will come down to a game either team could win and that is all you want when you are an underdog at home with supportive fans.

Yep, this one is up to the offense. We beat TCU last year that way and we CAN do this. If the Oline just gets in their way for 3 seconds and GG is ON. Then we win. BTW, I'm not so sure Fla. is all that good, didn't they have trouble in first game?
