Reality= we suck, pretty simple. Forecasting our ending record: 4-8. Dropped balls: limitless interceptions: on the rise, etc. 2.2 mil goes to a coach expecting to get the boot. Going to a conference where we will be 2-10 yearly and eventually Dallas will be purple.

Ugh you are nuts, you must be an Obama supporter lol, ok listen you are right we won 2 bowls and one bowl lost to army at home... And that means we should still not play as good or be competitive against a no defense Baylor team or an aggie team that has a 1st year hc? I mean c'mon being competitive against crap USA teams aren't going to cut it. We are going to the big east next year!!!! Reality is if we need weather to be competitive against our rival, and still have [deleted] for recruits this year after those three prestigious bowl games... We are pretty much heading for cellar dweller status in non BCS BE.... Again this is reality

You're right, I'm an idiot. Clearly Jones has stocked the cupboard well and built a program here that will be good for many, many years after he leaves. We have tons of depth at all skill positions and have just barely missed wins against major programs, as you would expect in a coach's 5th year.
He's also sent a large number of his
own recruits to the NFL, which is great. Everyone on the team gets the Run-and-Shoot offense and it's clicking well...no problems with "the light coming on" for any players anymore or stuff like that. Thank God the QB guru jones has several top-tier players lined up at that position, which we didn't have under Bennett.
This offense is so spectacular that fans are finally packing the stadium to watch...it's awesome! So many points and with such efficiency. It's great that we are finally getting fans to stick around because they see a team giving its all and winning in exciting fashion. The players are all buying in and giving their best...not giving up on routes or anything else, ever.
Most notably, Jones has really embraced SMU and wants to be here for the long haul. He's not even CONSIDERING other offers, and the Maryland/ASU fiascos were totally fabricated. Whew, we'd really be screwed if the $2MM per year Hula God were to leave us. No other coach in America has the kind of magic this guy has.
Give me a [deleted] break. We are a mediocre to poor program in year 5 of Jones, only a slight improvment from the rock bottom pitifulness we experienced before. He dragged us out of the slop at a very high cost but now he's standing there feeling good about himself instead of pushing for more. We need a hungry coach that has some fire in his belly and wants to lead us to the next level. Todd Graham is a [deleted], but read some of what he was saying at Rice and Tulsa vs. what we are getting from Jones. It's night and day, and only a real IDIOT would argue otherwise.
If what we are getting right now is all you want from SMU football, then you suck as a fan.

So it was raining last night, so what. TCU had to play in that mess as well.

Careless attitude by coaches is what i have seen since JJ has been here,no reason to think it will change with these money grabbers...

Sadly, I think I've finally come to that conclusion myself unfortunately. Just going through the motions it seems.

03Mustang, couldnt stop laughing, it baffles me that people (regardless of age/experience) are happy with the results we are getting in year 5. Unless of course this is JJ's brilliant son or JJ himself!

Year 5 means nothing to me

The fact is that we are rebuilding the offense after 3 years of
a lot of improvement
Know it all spoiled brats that have forgotten more football than Bennett ever knew ( see 70
hung on the Bears) , and want to fire a coach that brung us to the dance 3 years in a row, after
no dances for 25 years annoy me.

I'm not saying Bennett did a good job, I'm saying that Jones is only doing marginally better and we should all expect (and demand) more. Are fans all spoiled brats for wanting their team to be the best? Maybe sports just isn't your thing.
And "brought us to the dance"? Give me a freakin' break. Crappy bowls that shouldn't even exist aren't "the dance"...they are the equivalent of dinner at Denny's when the big boys are lining up at Bob's.

We weren't making the crappy bowls for 25 years until Jones.
I suppose you are an Allen Eagle fan who has gotten spoiled by the mega (5000+)
HS's run on smaller schools. My HS Longview 4A at the time knocked you off in
09 in Longview after falling behind 17-0. Even your 600 member band who cheatingly
trys to disrupt the opposing team's snap signals by blurting out loudly during that
time couldn't stop our comeback.
Longview, around 2200 students had the same problem with Plano in the 70s before they got
broken up into East, and West because of the mega HS athletics problem.

UGH ALLEN EAGLES... DRAGONS (except this year) always dominated, and all the other schools in Texas muhaha, yes its a tragedy to go from the great 5a champs to this pathetic excuse of a football team that looks like a compliation of every athlete from every sport except football put together. These bowls hardly make any money and will eventually close shop and will keep pushing to get Big conference elilgible teams (6-6 ones) rather than our 7-5 to 9-3 CrapUSA teams. Im sorry you had to deal with no bowls for 25 years, but at least you got to see what the SWC was like, so dont go around calling people spoiled. You were spoiled with seeing an SMU vs TU match up. Ughh I wish I could have seen those games

I don't give a damn about the Allen Eagles and I'm still pissed about the stadium that I'm stuck paying for, so your argument is totally lost on me...seriously, I don't get the point and what any of that has to do with the thread at hand.
I don't pay any attention at all to HS football in Allen or anywhere else, so....hey, maybe I should apply for a job on June's staff?
As I said before, I thank June for the uptick from awful to mediocre, and he was paid handsomely for it. He's not the guy to get us to the next level, period.
