It will be close, UTEP is struggling. They've played a heck of an out of conference schedule and are a bit beat up. If we don't turn the ball over, our receivers play with intensity, our O-line steps up, and June plays smart (I know, I know), the Ponies win by 10. I hope June doesn't cost us this game. It's bad when you have to worry about the choices the head coach makes on 3rd and inches.

QB has to step up as well. He needs to be as accurate in the game as he is in practice. Can't lock on the his receivers and stare them down either because the opposing defense will key on that every time.

Those are a lot of "ifs" heading into a road game as the underdog.

UTEP covers without issue. Jones is so predictable that UTEP's defense should have no problem stopping our weak offense. Receivers will run the same predictable routes, corners will beat them to the spot, and Gilbert will force the throw anyways.

LOL if you actually think this team is winning seven games.

Also, if you want a nice little dose of reality check out our 2013 recruiting class. This thing is headed for disaster as we enter the Big East under June Jones.

For the good of the program you should hope that UTEP flat out donkeypunches us into oblivion. I'm talking 50-6 (which wouldn't shock me even a little bit). Make it so obvious to Turner/Hart/CoC that the staff has lost this team. Sometimes you have to take a step back before you can move forward. Meaningless wins over UTEP, Rice, Tulane do NOTHING to help us get where we know we want to go. Losers who accept mediocrity are in abundance over here. Give me fans/coaches/administrators/boosters who accept nothing less than excellence.

Yeah, I remember those absolutely meaningless blowout losses to UTEP, Rice, Tulane and how they did NOTHING for our program back then. I know some folks remember those horrid 0-11 and 0-12 seasons. As meaningless as wins over UTEP, Rice and Tulane may be now; it beats the Hades out of losses to them just a few years back.

I’ll take meaningless wins any day over any loss.
