From what I'm hearing, everyone will have to play tougher games which in the end will helps the Big East. An undefeated Big East team that has played at least two quality opponents plus the championship game will be in the playoffs - you can bank on it. I'm hearing this from some ole barrel chested SEC know it alls! So, to get ready we need to play at least one Big 12 team and one SEC team (Vandy, Miss schools, etc.). That should set us up for success, I know that's the plan for Bama, Aubey, and LSU.
Makes sense. The comment a few weeks ago that TCU/SMU may not be an annual event in the future begs the question: if not TCU, then which one team in the Big 12 do we book? Baylor? Texas Tech? OSU? As for a SEC school, I suggest Ole Miss, which would bring us near Memphis every year. I love Vandy (daughter is an alum) and Nashville (an eight hour drive from Chicago), but the Dores may not travel as well.

That leaves us two more friendly games to schedule. Would could add back Rice for that matter.

Finally, do we know the division set up for BE yet? I hope SDSU is in our division. Have reasons to be in San Diego regularly, plus a West Coast rival would be good for recruiting.

Our contract with TCU expires in 2017? TCU picks up Ohio State in 2018/2019? Uh oh.

yall can slobber all over TCU if you would like to - but this is a dumb move. The big 12 provides all you need in the way of schedule cred - and putting another almost sure loss on the schedule is not so bright.

To use Stallions analogy - everything reverts the the mean based on recruiting - i dont see how TCU competes year in and year out with OU, OSU, UT, KSU (who gets theirs through JC), and even TTU or Baylor. TO be 5th or 6th in big 12 and then add another sure loss with Ohio st, and also probable loss to us (had to put that in there) - could be rough sledding.

just cause the frogs did it dont mean it was smart. what do they pick up? no recruits up there they should want - no students either - ohio state fans are the worst - ask UT if they will EVER go back up there.

dumb move.

Actually, from a revenue point of view, it is a good move for the Frogs. Buckeye fans travel (most Big Ten schools do) and strength of schedule will look good. It might be a loss, but Frogs speed will make it tough on OSU. I like their move. I went to see SMU play in Madison, Wisc. and had a blast (but it was not home and home, which TCU got.) Bringing a major conference team to DFW is a plus for the Purple, with or without the win.

not if you are not bowl eligible - which they wont be in either of those years. this is a gamble they dont need to make.

last time SMU played Ohio State? As I recall, Mike Ford went into the horseshoe and tied them 35 all. That season, with road games against Florida, Penn State & Ohio State put SMU on the map again. Ah...the good old days

They have a program and an administration that view themselves as giant-killers and every move they have made in the past 20 years looks brilliant.

And if they win both, it'll put them on the map even more (no matter how bad the Big 10 is now a days). They'd get to brag about a win over Ohio State, while SMU sits on a win over SFA or UNT. How fun. But you're right....just getting into a bowl game and settling for 6-6 should be the goal.

Maybe they will renew with us when we join the Big 10.

Since we do not have the athletes to play with Ohio State (TCU does) that's right.

TCU has a good shot of beating Ohio State and worst case, will at least be competitive. When is the last time they got blown out by a bcs team? The last I can remember, was one of the times they played Tech 8 or 9 years ago -- and they were actually leading at half time, but fell apart. Besides that, from what I can recall, they've had incredible success against the big boys year in and year out.

and they definitely haven't just gotten the floor wiped with them, like we have for, well forever.

Wow, it's like all of you didn't just witness a pretty poor SMU team go toe to toe with the "mighty" TCU. Why do you think they can hang with Ohio state? They will lose to tech and Baylor and about 4 others this year

but i bet you they won't lose to any of them by 30+.
