How do you think the tv deal will turn out?

Do you think we will get the 10mil or more a team for all sports? Or settle for less?

Do you think it will end up with ESPN? Or who else?

I'm pulling for the 10 mil with fox sports since they take gambles and it usually pays off

I say more than 11 million per team...I think ESPN has done everything it can to try to keep starting negotiations low, but it is not working. A good deal will be made for the Big East.

west is right - from people that are in the know. It wont be 15 - but will be more then 11

I think what ever we get will be great for SMU when going to the Big East, certainly from a basketball perspective.
Overall though, the BE is in contention to still be a strong money conference.

Losing Syracuse to the ACC is a big loss for basketball. Nothing really replaces them.
Gaining Boise will be a great replacement for Pitt. Syracuse is a non-factor.
Overall, I just don't see how much can hurt BE, even with additional weaker CUSA teams.

WVA was the biggest loss from FB (but not from a market) perspective, since Syracuse and Pitt football are less marquee teams now.

Louisivlle, Cincinnati and Rutgers have emerged the stronger legacy BE teams with Temple now showing a rebirth. With BSU (and perhaps SDSU, as the most attractive, non-PAC12 team in California) bringing street cred, BE looks competitive and attractive to the media. With Navy and two Florida and Texas schools, our media rights should be of great value before adding the strong BB brand with it's Madison Square Garden championship.

BE brings strength in large metro areas, competitive Top 25 teams and coast to coast media interest. I sense Fox or NBC will be more aggressive than our "friends" at ESPN.

Oh yes, how could I forget about WVU. Sorry

Thanks for sharing the diagram, which in only missing the more recent decision by Navy to join the BE. So, which FB school(s) should BE add to round-up to 14 (1) or possibly 16 (3)?

I posted a link Article on the Basketball thread about John Thompson III in which he mentioned how adding SMU helps the BE. It helps recruiting and adds another media market. Note that the additions with the exception of Boise are good media market teams SDS, SMU, UH, UCF, Memphis, Temple. Even Navy has a good TV Q rating. Look at the decent programs left out. ECU, USM, Tulsa. I personally think that the BE will be second only to the ACC in hoops, and may be better long term in football with Boise, Louisville, Temple and hopefully SMU. Only FSU, Clemson, VT bring any strength to the ACC in football. All three have warts this year.

Right now, the Big East has a better football presence in the Top 25 than the Big10 and the ACC combined.

1. Probably 8-10 million
2. A little less
3. Probably with someone else. ESPN has a full schedule and no need to bid high. The only bargaining chip with them really is BBall. I hope we don't end up on Fox since they are still not 100% in HD, especially for non-football.
