No kidding. It's gotten ridiculous.
Not quite as ridiculous as our offense with a single TD scored tonight.

We won the game. We scored more them them. That is the end goal.

The end goal is to improve every game, imo. The defense improved (not sure how, they've played great the past two weeks). But the offense and special teams have done nothing but put out the same every game this season.
One excellent drive a game, and that's it.

I guess once everyone saw how bad the UTEP offense was they figured that our offense would score more than 10 points which the total of 17 is the lowest point production any opposing team has had against UTEP. SMU's offensive still needs to improve.

Defense deserves week off and get to throw water balloons at our failure of a kicker

I love our defense, offense was a little better, I'm not as frustrated after the SMU game, and I've had too much to drink! Yes, it was a very good day.

No. The end goal is to outscore the opponent. Come on, I know you are intelligent. I do not care if we do not improve a bit more if we outscore every team we play. Would you rather we rack up 700 yards in offense and lose?

I'm impressed by our defense and do feel a little bit better about the offense because there were some nice drives in the game (3 missed field goals as well). UTEP's defense is one of the better ones in the conference actually, and it's easy to lose sigh of that. Anyway, our offense still needs to get their **** together if we want to be bowling. The way the team is playing now I can see wins against Tulane, Memphis, and maybe Rice and USM if they're truly the trainwreck they appear to be. That would get us to 6 wins, which means we need our offense to really help out the defense if want to beat Houston, UCF, and Tulsa - all games we can win. If this offense ever "clicks," we can run out the season. That's what is frustrating so many fans is that we all see the potential but we are left with boneheaded play calling, a QB who can't connect on deep balls at all, and receivers constantly dropping balls or not fighting hard enough to make catches. If all of that gets straightened out, it could be a nice CUSA championship to end our stint with the conference. However, there's no reason to assume our offense will ever click. It's made some improvement, but not enough for me to feel confident.

If we did it against TCU/Baylor/Texas A&M? Sure. Would at least have some confidence that we wouldn't need to require the defense to play unbelievable all game at least. But I guarantee you than if we got 700 yards of offense, SMU wouldn't lose in this league.
I just don't understand why so many SMU fans are so satisfied with being .500. Makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

If we win every game we would not be.500. We won tonight, That is a good thing. That is the end goal.

You're right, who cares how bad our offense and special teams looked, let's win ugly every week. We have enough garbage opponents left that we might actually squeeze out another 3rd tier bowl bid with this strategy.

So you also think it is better to look good than to win. Glad you were never on my team.

To say that there are not valid concerns about our offense would be turning away from reality. Good win but a lot needs to be worked on. Just sayin.

You're conflating the following: winning with style, and looking good winning so as to project how well you'll perform against better competition. We're doing the latter, you're thinking we're doing the former. Having an offense looking as stagnant as it has is probably going to get us in trouble against the more decent teams in CUSA. If you're feeling confident going up against UCF and Tulsa just because we beat UTEP, then cool for you. Many of us don't share your optimism.
