I sincerely hope our offense shreds Tulane. This is THE opportunity (well SFA too but that was Gilbert's second game ever at SMU) to really work out some kinks and continue to grow as a unit together. This offense needs this so badly.

I do not care if the offense does more than 3 points if the defense shuts them out.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of thing hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

referenced that a bit earlier...to bring mrydel's post full circle, I will be grateful for the 3 points and a shutout, but will 'hope for' much more.

The offense is just bad, there's not going to be any substantial growth in the 7 remaining games. The defense should be good enough to make up for that though and get us to bowl eligibility.

Gilbert is an enigma...watching the game tonight. you had that feeling he was gonna gain confidence, get on a roll..but it never really happened.
Positives though, he picked a good couple of spots to run for first downs. He did not throw any interceptions....he made some bad throws, but at least he did not make a devasting mistake.
Also, I think it is worth mentioning that time in the first half when he got blindsided right as he was about to throw it, he took the hit and tucked the ball and did a great job of holding on to it.
Conference USA is really down this year...Tulsa has been pretty solid and has a good offense and Houston seems to have shook off the funk and are back in it. We should be in every game the rest of this year and should blow several teams out...including Tulane next week.
Look forward to partying next week in the french quarter with all the Pony Fans!!!

let's hope we can jump on Tulane early and put that game away so JJ can rest the starters. That's going to be a short turnaround to get ready for Houston on Thursday after a road game. Thank goodness it is at Ford
Houston is going to have a tough one at home against UAB, which looks like a much improved team this year

Tulane is terrible. We will win. And if we don't, heads should roll.

Favorite road trip SMU has. Going to enjoy this one since it will be the last one for who knows how long.
Hart, have you scheduled Tulane for OOC yet?

That would certainly ease our OOC schedule strength.

June approves, of course both the Superdome and Ford will be veritable tombs for the games but at least we'll get some easy wins.

Need to be up 4 scores by halftime then sit Line and many on the defense and play CP the entire fourth quarter. And START Deiter for goodness's sake!!!
