This may be the first season (at SMOOO) he won't be entertaining any job offers. What a distraction that has been the last three seasons & probably a big part of his undoing this season.

yep. He crapped in his own bed and now he is stuck in it. Agree just too much looking elsewhere and ASU appears unrecoverable and he is not working very hard to overcome anyway.

assuming this team goes on to finish no better than 5-7, maybe JJ decides it is time to retire back to the Islands
he and his staff have taken this program as far as they are going to and he can feel good about getting some changes made and getting SMU to 3 straight bowl games
in private, he can tell friends he couldn't get SMU to BCS level because we don't have a large enough fan base

The 'fan base excuse' is simply an excuse that's been beaten to death & into the afterlife too many times. Winning & winning 8+ gms annually will draw the fans thus solving that problem. Time to move on from that 'excuse'.

Kinda sad but it seems JJ never really embraced the traditions here. It was like he was always planning his next (or final ) move back to the islands or a bcs-BS job opportunity at the end of every $%$# season. Just like pouring salt in the wound, it was always in the public's eye which made it that much worse. The whole thing sounds like a missed opportunity for both us & him. Moreover, with all this, has he lost the team? That's the big question.

quite a damn shame that its come to this. On December 1st of last year, things were looking pretty good. We had a chance to salvage this season after a slow start, but losing that way to Tulane is pretty much a gut punch. Can't lose to Tulane in your fifth season and claim you are getting it done.

Fire him and let Mason coach the rest of the season

give it up already all of you calling for JJ to be fired. Ain't happening. We can only hope he decides to retire and goes out with a handshake and thank you for accomplishing what he did...so we can then get on with the business of rebuilding SMU football

We can't stop, you saw this game, there's nothing positive to say of it

seriously? you didn't see Zach run like a maniac for 177 yds? you didn't see Gilbert come to life and lead us on two scoring drives when our backs were to the wall? you didn't see a defense that played most of the 2nd half as well as they have all year? you didn't see the FG kicker who everyone wanted to tar and feather last week nail a 52 yarder?
we lost. it hurts. but you are one of the most negative people I've ever seen on this board. you need to go get some tonight. it will make you feel better. SMU wins & losses don't have to ruin your life.

If Hover hadn't missed the one kick we wouldn't be having this conversation.
