the offense still looked like hell.
It was Phil's mantra since he wasn't any good at, you know, winning games here.PonySnob wrote:Mike Cavan?
Actually we don't control our own destiny. SMU could win out but still lose a tiebreaker to Tulane if they won out too. Odds of both happening are pretty unlikely, but not correct to say we control our destiny until/unless Tulane loses again.Stallion wrote:All we have to do is win out. Good God. Talk about depressing.Grant Carter wrote:Actually we don't control our own destiny. SMU could win out but still lose a tiebreaker to Tulane if they won out too.
Why would that be depressing? To me that would signal that we were all wrong about Tulane. We would finish with out best record in ages (8-4, 7-1) and be bowl eligible, going to a decent bowl game. Additionally, our only CUSA loss would be to the best team in the conference. I would gladly have the team win out even if it meant Tulane winning out as well.Mustangs35SMU wrote:Good God. If Tulane wins out that would tell me that they are a solid team. At the very least a team that knows how to win and finds a way to win. At the moment, I insist that they are the worst team in FBS.SMU2007 wrote:did you watch Tulane play? We weren't wrong about them...
Yeah, and Grizzly Adams had a beard.Grant Carter wrote:Actually we don't control our own destiny. SMU could win out but still lose a tiebreaker to Tulane if they won out too. Odds of both happening are pretty unlikely, but not correct to say we control our destiny until/unless Tulane loses again.
or 2 games.smubrooks wrote:Tulane is NOT winning out. They wont even win 6 games.
I think he made the same mistake that most of us did in assuming that Tulane was already out of the picture. But they are now, so it doesn't even matter!! The winner of the Houston/Tulsa game will be the one we have to look out for, but as the title of this thread suggests, win out and we're in.Grant Carter wrote:I agree Tulane won't win out, but controlling your own destiny means if you win out you win the conference, it does not mean if you win out and someone else loses a game you win the conference.
I agree, since Tulane lost, the initial post is now accurate.SMUSIC 07 wrote:I think he made the same mistake that most of us did in assuming that Tulane was already out of the picture.
