Nothing really to add on Shead in high school-he was obviously a Top nationally recognized recruit but from an extremely small Class A school. But it is good to see him put up solid numbers in Texas JUCO with very high level JUCO competition. Those schools he's competing against are filled with Division 1A prospects. Those numbers project well to the Big East level while some of high school stats really are inflated. If he was mediocre in JUCO you'd wonder if he really was just a high school phenom in a small pond and nothing more but he looks like he's still a great prospect

He committed on February 28-more than 11 months prior to signing day-probably at UT's first big Junior Day which is reserved for UT's select top Juniors.

I found this video of him prior to his committing to SMU - he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He's got some man-sized shoes to fill when he comes here but we are lucky to get him. Should be fun to watch the RB competition in the spring heat up. (Shead, KC, Jared Williams, Line 2.0, The Seeker, etc).

could seeker play slot? seems too slight to play RB for jones who likes to block with his RB quite a bit.

Shead had over 100 yards last week against NEO to break the 1,000 yard mark. Showdown against Kilgore today in SWJCA Championship

Had a HB pass for a touchdown vs kilgore in a 42-14 win. Also had 7 carries for 26 yds.
we did what we did

too bad we will never see a HB pass in JJ's offense; while other programs burn us on trick plays, we do what we do

You'd think they would let Jeremy Johnson try that once in awhile-they had it in the playbook several years ago didn't they? Or was that Bennett? Johnson hit on about 65% of his passes as a High school Senior

WR screen out to JJ and then he lets it fly down the field. Sounds like a solid idea to me.

That requires imagination.

That would be correct..why try something that may work?....this Shead is a great get! He is the real deal....

Welcome to SMU, Traylon!
I am not sure what SMU can do with a pure running back. The R & S requires a Zack Line type runner who is very big and can block first, then run and finally catch. This is not an offense, at least as long as JJ is coach, that will ever use a running back purely as a runner. A review of our roster suggests that he will have trouble getting playing time under the current system and with at least 2 real big backs waiting in line.
