How many pro HC jobs has Mack Brown had?

As for actual coaching, JJ is a much better coach.

As for actually running a D1 program, Mack Brown is the better recruiter and organizer.

What concrete evidence can you give to show that June is a much better coach?

Here's todays article in Austin American Statesman, stating that the coaches think Longhorn Network overexposes its team.

I thought this might happen, with video of practice, players, coaches, etc.

And the 2 conference losses already may be proving the article correct:

June can take 3 star recruits and turn them into NFL prospects. Mack Brown can take 5 star recruits and coach them down. With the recruits UT has, there is no way they should ever lose to OU by 40+ points.

Other than that.

And is Mark Brown really a great recruiter? The University of Texas recruits itself.

In the decade prior to Mack's arrival at Texas the Longhorns winning percentage was .576

In Mack's tenure that percentage has gone up to .760 with a national championship and two BCS bowl wins.

I think people forget just how mediocre Texas was when Mack Brown got there.

Diamond - you are posting positive info on the hate JJ club. What...do you want this program to do well? What's up with that?

One trip to the sold out orange empire and the deal is done. Certainly there is an argument to be made, but Mack couldn't do anything with our program

Mack is a salesman, he could do wonders for this program's recruiting and image around the state. Having him as HC would give us instant credibility. June in Austin would be an epic dumpster fire, "We do what we do" would last 5 minutes down there before they'd hang him.
When we have the luxury of firing a big name coach because there are many good coaches lining up for the job, give me a call.

Just to turn this idiotic thread around, who is in a better position since we hired him? The program or June's coaching career? June will never be a HC again. We are going into a conference at least twice as good as the CUSA. I'm pretty sure June's performance at Hawaii could have gotten him a BCS job.

We have no idea who will be lining up for the job because we don't have a vacancy right now. When we do, there will be a ton of interest in this job. No reason to assume June is the best we can do anymore. As for June's coaching prospects, he could be a head coach in many places if he wanted to. Given his penchant for turnarounds, many crappy programs would want him.

I didn't say I particularly like JJ. I just said compared with Mack Brown, he is technically the better "COACH".

There are better coaches than both of them. Coaches like Bob Stoops and Bill Snyder quickly come to mind.

In your opinion, not technically. Mack has sent more players to the NFL over the last 10 years than anyone so that is not a good measuring tool if you want to use that. How many conference championships has Mack won in a hard conference and how many conference championships has June won outside of the one hit wonder year he had in a non BCS? Probably not many. If June was such a super duper coach why has it taken him 5 years to get his offense clicking. You talk about Mack losing to OU by 40 but SMU lost to arguably the worst team in college football in Tulane.

There are too many reasons to count that we couldn't get a better coach. Sorry, but Alabama assistants will stay in the SEC. We would get embarrassed in the open market this year.

Who says SMU needs an Alabama assitant. This sounds like a battered wife syndrome statement. What happens when June retires then? Are you saying it is no hope in hiring a better coach when he retires?

A *different* coach, not a better coach. There was no better coach to get us to this point where we've rebuilt from literal near-extinction.

Meaning you can't name any reasons we couldn't get a better coach, not any good ones anyway.
