1989-2007: 28% win percentage. Zero bowls

Last three years: 58% win percentage. Three bowls, two of which we won.

Yes. That gets you a statue. Or at the very least not to be publicly vilified by a very vocal minority who don't remember from where we've come.

Mustangsabu wrote:I took a couple of work colleagues to the Houston game last Thursday, guys who have no connection to SMU at all, but fans of college football who were interested in seeing a game at SMU. Obviously my SMU obsession is rubbing off on them because the first thing they did when we got to Dallas for the game was go buy some SMU gear. And then we go and score 72 points. They were impressed. But they had to listen to people screaming nonsense at JJ, especially towards the end, and it left them with the opinion that SMU fans are terrible fans. I think that people don't realize that creating a negative atmosphere in an attempt to basically "get what they want" makes SMU fans seem selfish, ignorant and whiney, and we already have to deal with a certain stigma out in the world. We don't need this.

So to all the June Haters, please don't go to the game, especially if you are going to scream your opinion of what JJ needs to do. Support the team. It will help them, it will help the atmosphere and (and this is where I am going to be selfish) I won't have to apologize for you to others.

As an aside, if I were JJ, listening to the vitriol coming from the stands when I've already put 60-odd points on the board, I wouldn't be inclined to run the ball at all :)

I wonder what they'd think of UT, A&M, and Tech fans that do the exact same thing. Do they get a pass because their stadiums are full every game?

ATHLETES

Nothing about a coach.

Everytime the team had a good or GREAT play we hold up our sign as an At a boy/Good Job/ U R Appreciated type deal.

We have the best speed, size and agile players we have had since 1987.

We should be winning.

Well I guess delayed gratification is better if it means winning a conference championship which we should do this year. :D

If not instant gratification is better. LOL.

Let's get some instant gratification by destroying Memphis which we should do this weekend. GO SMU.

Can't wait for the USM game, they may have more to scream at than we do! A stadium full of "you Idiot" and boos (no booze, unfortunately) and obscenities. Heck, why even have the teams play for us. Whoever screams at their coach to loudest will be declared the winner!

seriously? you want people to stay away unless they are 100% behind the coach?

that's like saying that if you don't like the President of the United States, you should move to another country.

So because we crave to continue progress and feel this program can go even further, we don't remember where we come from? Please. He deserves every bit of ridicule he gets.

I agree with you that we can go much, much further. And it's probably time to move on.

Why does June Jones deserve ridicule?

This is a funny thread. Think I'll make myself a sandwich in its honor.

I don't think you should tell the June haters not to go to the game. We can't have anymore fans not at the game.

I thought for sure this thread was going to be on the abysmal attendance, because that is the only thing I consistently see mentioned on other boards about SMU observations. Go to the Big East message board, and it is all you ever see talked about. I've gotten tired of defending that.

It's a free country, so fans have the right to yell and scream whatever they want, until SMU security decides to kick them out.
