Hey Dallas! Come see our turd offense struggle in our turd conference! Casual fans won't come until we prove, consistently, that we can be winners. Our season's end goals should be moving beyond getting into Nowheres Bowl.

These site is shameful. Nothing but negative comments - win or lose. Any would be recruit or family member of a recruit reading these post would certainly not be motivated to have their son go to SMU with such a terrible whining fan base. Support the players, I assure you they are working their tails off.

If they're making their college decisions based on innocuous message board chatter then they're too dumb to be of use to SMU anyway.

How relevant is that really? How many people honestly say: "I'm a fan of SMU football, but instead of going to their game Saturday I'm going to a Mavericks (or Rangers game)."? It's an easy cop out to blame pro teams but maybe the real blame rests with SMU.
This is to Arkpony and pony boy as well. I'm not talking about our SMU fans going to see nfl sports. Generally the same 18000 continues to come. In saying the Dallas fan that has no true affiliation. Why bother with us when there so much else out there, whereas UT you are essentially coerce to being a fan there. Is there anything to address this issue? Yeah it's wins and continuous marketing to make sure people know where we are and who we are.

Is "turd" offensive? Should I have said "stinky-pooh"? Listen, we are at (and mostly below) the 50-percentile in every offensive statistical category. We're bottom of the barrel in terms of red-zone efficiency. I wish it weren't so but a spade is a spade.

Understood. This is what I love about the message boards...it gives those who only have negative comments a place to huddle. Far be it for you or the other perpetual critics to understand the damage you bring to the mustang players/prospects/fans with your constant negative chatter-sadly win or lose. Take a break, it gets rather old and redundant.

You should have been here when we were consistently in the ESPN Bottom Ten. It was like a constant suicide hotline.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I don't know if this question was aimed at me or not but my $0.02:
1. Much more marketing (online, print, radio, TV, etc.)
2. Increased visibility (coach/player appearances at local schools, community events, etc.)
3. Re-examine ticket pricing structure (I understand the goal but charging $95 for the A&M game was a mis-calculation of the market and SMU's relative standing)

Now that sounds interesting. How do they coerce fans? Do other schools use the same tactics?

This program has no use for anyone not strong enough to handle innocuous message board chatter. I can't imagine any program would.

Ticket prices for that game may have been slightly over the market clearing price. But only slightly. We couldn't have packed a lot more people in that stadium.

Then there were a lot of tickets sold but not used. Watching from TV there were plenty of empty seats in both end zones.
