We aren't in a place as a program to be able to win or compete in those games without quality QB play.
Now our QB has 5 good halves of football in a row under his belt. We just beat two teams we will be playing against in a Bcs conference next year, hopefully we can make it three in a row this week.
Last part of the offense to get down is the quick pass at the goalline for a score, and we are still struggling at that in the red zone. But it will come at some point.
As someone who always had us down as somewhere around 5-7 or 6-6 for the season because of the unknowns at o-line and QB, I am starting to feel optimistic now. Good chance to go 3-1 from here on out and finish 7-5, with great momentum going into next season.
OL has played pretty good all year even thought I heard Palcic was kind of bad mouthing them before the season. I hope Palcic coaches better at SMU than he did at UCLA during his time here because UCLA's OL was terrible when he coached them. Also you predicted 5 to 7 wins on another thread half way into the season. By the way, predicting 5 to 7 wins is a sorry range prediction. I guess you are doing that so in case JJ doesn't make a bowl. You are a true JJ to the death supporter. I guess you guys got to be buddies when you did the team coverage while PP was out off town. Anyway, GG is coming around and the WR's are not dropping many passes. Jones should be on the hotseat if he does not go to a bowl game because he should in the 5th year of his tenure here.

When you were trashing the OL you were not saying anything about Palcic but it was the players now you are saying the OL is improving and it is Palcic doing a good job not the players. I think I see now you and Palcic are buddies and talk on the side. Got it, now your comments make sense. At any rate your 5 to 7 game prediction range is weak. We should make a bowl game or JJ should be on the hotseat.

"Bob Palcic, who has coached three Outland Trophy winners, is set to begin his fourth season at UCLA after joining the coaching staff in January of 2008. In 2010, the Bruin ground game improved over 60 yards per game from the previous season. The Bruins racked up three-straight 250-yard rushing games for the first time since 1993 and its 437-yard effort against Washington State was the biggest UCLA ground assault since the 1979 season."
That plus he got three kids into the NFL, two of which were named All-America.
Clearly he was an embarrassment at UCLA.

I was responding to you ripping Palcic when it seems like he is doing a pretty decent job with the improvements that have been made as the year has moved along. This is Palcic's first year at SMU, so this is our only time to take a look at how he has been doing.
The OL obviously struggled at the beginning of the year. And it has obviously improved. I don't think anyone could argue against any of that. Laseki has really stepped up after the first half of the Tulane game. Free and Collins are starting to hold their own as well. UCF has a much more athletic defensive line, so it will be a test, but we will see what happens.
