Knight dude - When is UCF basketball going to start recruiting like a Big East program?
And no, Houston doesn't bring the entire state of Texas in recruiting. They may as well be in a different state

Isn't this guy cute. Congrats on a degree from the Florida equivalent of UNT. Central Florida is a glorified commuter school for kids who couldn't get into USF or FSU. Good grief.
SMU has more name recognition, money, resources, and prestige that Central f'ing Florida could ever dream of. You won one football game. Good for you. We will take our 1.4 billion endowment, world class degrees, and hot chicks here in Dallas. You keep Mickey Mouse and your pathetic education.
I don't mean to be a jerk but I'm certainly not above flicking a booger on some gutter trash from a school with less pedigree than my high school.

others said it, but UCF will always be a directional state school with a commuter base. Nothing wrong with that but is true. SMU is pretty close to a national school, over half the students come from outside of Texas and many don't stay in Texas after graduation. Having SMU is an asset to the Big Easts national brand, granted we have to win unlike last night. I am sure our national tv ratings and interest for a real big game would crap all over UCFs. We took your athletic director once, don't make us do it again.

So the real question is what UCF does for the Big East? big numbers in the school - but who cares if they are all a half notch above junior college students? 6th best team in Florida - which is not even that big a state?

Now that Syracuse, Pitt, and Notre Dame are leaving the Big East SMU is bringing some semblance of academic excellence. God knows Houston and UCF aren't getting the job done in that respect.

Come on guys, let's not rag on Omniknight. He is obviously proud of his school's great tradition established with its founding in 1963, and the football team has been going strong since it began Division 1 play in 1996. I suppose SMU just can't compete with that.

all i hear is some stuttering about falsely inflated academic rep or degree value
so would you contend that SMU adds more or less value than temple and/or memphis, the other two poor additions to conference?
can we at least agree that football is primary driver of conference perception?

Lol. This guy is really going Simple Jack.
The BE knows SMU is a financial and academic behemoth. Location, academics, national brand, and a renewed commitment to athletics make SMU a very valuable addition to the conference. SMU has only been serious about competing in the revenue sports for the last 5 years. In that time we've gone to 3 bowl games and hired an NBA Hall of Fame head coach.
So isn't the better question the following:
Where didn't you get in? Florida Atlantic, Florida State, South Florida, or DeVry? All of the above?

with such deep pockets, surely SMU could muster more success on field or more fans in stands
