CalallenStang wrote:Ponyboy, I disagree with your assessment. An overwhelming majority of people on here that want June gone are saying that they want him gone because they believe that he isn't the right person to lead us forward from this point.
I believe that June has done a decent job for us in getting us to a few bowl games. I further believe that his lack of emphasis on recruiting in the post-Klemm era will hurt us going forward. I believe that June's offensive system is not as successful as it once was because defenses are better prepared for spread attacks and because June has not recruited well here. Finally, I believe that June has not adapted his offense enough to fit the talent he does have, and that has cost us some games.
I disagree with June on geldings, wearing black, and other things, but those are not my reasons to fire him.
I do believe that June has the right to explore other jobs. That said, I believe that June recruited for ASU while under the employ of SMU, and I believe that is a terminable offense. Further, I believe that he presented outright lies to the Mustang Club immediately after the ASU debacle, and should have been fired for that.
But Orsini chose not to fire him for those things, so I decided to see what would happen after that. It's safe to say that we have stalled our forward progress this year, and have actually taken a step backwards.
June is not our man moving forward, and that is why we need to be moving on.
Torch the Tiki.
Cal- well stated. I couldn't agree more.

How the hell does a thread about a menu turn into this? Do you guys have to complain about everything in every thread?

Playing devils advocate here in attempt to support smt's claims...
If your favorite nfl team was going to get their franchise qb, the next Peyton manning, with the 1st pick of the draft, would you want them to lose a meaningless week 17 game to get that pick? Or would that make you a horrible fan?

Not that your scenario is directly on point, but to answer your question, I would not want my team to lose period. Now we are getting down to principles. I am too big of a competitor to lay down. We still have three games left, possibly four. I am not throwing in the towel on this team. I am a fan and will never not want the team to not compete and to not win.

As I told my kids.
You get a dollars worth of energy each day.
If you spend 2 cents being mad... you just short changed yourself.
How many days' worth of energy did you have to save up to throw your shoes?

I understand what you're saying as well. It shreds me to want my team to lose b/c one man seems hellbent on leaving this program in a state of anarchy. Our recruiting, our schemes, our coaches are just plain bad. Sometimes you have to take a step back before you can take two steps forward. All I'm saying.

I've been to every home for the last ten years, road trips to Pullman, Annapolis, Tulsa, Houston, Ft Worth, Huntington, and Orlando watching this team play. Also been a Mustang Club member since graduation. I'm also one of maybe 100 young alumni who actually give a rat's [deleted] about this program and our future.
If it means the firing of June Jones I hope we lose these last three games by 50 points each. Otherwise the yes man Hart and RGT will bring him back for another year. This man doesn't want to be here, has no passion left in the tank, and it is reflected in every aspect of our program from recruiting to execution to press conferences. Get this fraud away from the school I love.
So go ahead and call me not a fan. I pity the losers who actually think this thing is going in the right direction.
Well said, Kemosabe.

we are assured of nothing with a loss this week. and it's midseason with a lot of football left to play and a lot of open possibilities, including backing into a title game. the logic doesn't hold.

My point is only that rooting for your team to lose under certain circumstances does not necessarily make you a horrible fan.

MT's proposing the "I will burn down this village to save it" philosophy. Makes sense. I don't think I agree with it, but I understand what he's saying. Unfortunately, I don't think it will impact JJ's departure one way or the other (we win out or lose by 50 the next 3 games). As I've posted elsewhere, it's all about who you think/know you can get. If we have Kliff Kingsbury waiting in the wings ... or Dykes or someone like that, then you say bye bye to JJ immediately after the season in a very diplomatic "media/recruits-friendly" way.
