The way this team has been so Up n Down this year, there's no way we win all 3 of our remaining games. And IF we beat S.Miss, then lose to Rice and then beat Tulsa at home, that puts us at 6-6. Or what IF we beat S. Miss, then beat Rice and lose to Tulsa, that would still put us at 6-6, but going into a bowl game after a loss. I truly believe any bowl bound team should at least have a winning record.

Your thoughts.

Go Ponies~

If we win enough games to be bowl eligible and a bowl wants to invite us then we deserve to go to a bowl.

PK, I could not agree more. To many bowls out there, naturally it is all about the money and teams get stuck with the bill when they can not fill their allotment of tickets plus travel cost. It is a shame but that is the way it is.
Everybody gets a trophy.

In football, a 50% win ratio is hard to achieve. So yes, they deserve to go.

Yup.
JJ hasn't fielded a team yet that beats SMU's '72 7-win team that got zip for a bowl. It's a joke. (Texas high school football, the same. 3-7 teams in the playoffs??)

Not when you are really a good team.

Um, for those who say we shouldn't go or don't deserve it...This will likely be the LAST ONE we reach for quite some time.

Have any of you guys looked at our future schedules?? Big East play will match us up against Boise St, Louisville, Cincy, Houston, SDSU, along with crossover matchups against the likes of Rutgers, USF, UCF, etc. Not to mention our OOC schedule which includes TAMU, TT, TCU, Baylor.

Who here thinks we will see 6 wins again in the next 4-5 years? Not me. Not with this recruiting. Not with this staff.

Did anyone else spot the logical fallacy?

Interesting numbers... interesting indeed.

The median win percentage is 54.5%
SMU is 48.4%

After a generation of futility, I would hope we go to every single bowl we can.

Yes, if the team qualifies and is asked.

While I agree with some that there are too many bowls, considering where this program has been for over 20 years, being to 4 bowls in a row is a great accomplishment. Because I support the players, it would be nice for a group of them to say that they did what they did with 4 rings/watches/mp3 players to show for it.

I've been around here too long where there was no hope for a bowl, so I'll always vote for my beloved Mustangs to participate in a bowl, rather than turn one down.

Let me change the question a bit. What does this team bring to the table that would interest any bowl committee or TV audience? We have very little to offer as an offensive team other than Zack Line. As an offensive team we score few points and have not demonstrated any consistency or excitement. Our defense is solid, but has been exploited badly by bigger, stronger and more athletic teams. We are at least defensively palatable. We have a very small fan base, do not travel well and barely capture any attention in the Dallas media market. For me the realistic question is: who wants us and what do we really have to offer? I am not trying to be totally negative, but realistic based on the results thus far this season.

Bowls love a featured player so Zach Line is just that, a name the bowls can advertise. Garrett Gilbert is intriguing given his immense talent so people would be curious to see what he can do with additional practice. More than anything, this year we would be bowl eligible which is a huge consideration given that some websites are predicting there may not be enough bowl eligible teams to fill out all the slots.

C-USA has 7 bowl tie-ins, at this point only a maximum of 7 C-USA teams can become bowl eligible. We get bowl eligible and someone will have to take us warts and all (like the last 3 seasons).

"Deserve" to go to a bowl is pretty irrelevant. Have their been games that we didn't deserve to win? Sure. Does it matter? No.

In my opinion, the majority of teams don't "deserve" to go to a bowl, but that's not how the system is set up.

Get your 6 wins and go where you are invited.
