Dr. Turner, what in the h-e double hockey sticks are you doing about getting beer sold in Ford Stadium. Lord knows I need it to watch us pour millions into a coach with borderline mediocre results.

Age doesn't dictate recruiting ability, nor does the zip code of players. If you think recruiting should be different, that's fine, but to suggest that age dictates recruiting success or that players have to be from Texas or any other specific state is silly. Above and beyond that, however, I agree that I want the best players out there who we can get at SMU.

As for President Turner, I'd ask when we'll see an indoor practice facility (thanks, SMU86), and adequate facilities for soccer, swimming and track.

Oh, Prez Turner knows about PonyFans.com -- I assume it's his home page on his computer.

There is absolutely NOTHING (institutionally) stopping SMU from competing with any of its rivals EXCEPT for an agressive and younger Coaching Staff that knows how to recruit Texas. SMU has made a huge commitment to both Football and Basketball-just a lot harder climbing out of the hole you dug for 20 years. The rest of the challenges are just noise on the margins faced by every athletic program in the country. Hire good people and solve them
I totally agree. Turner has subsidized the athletic department with more than $110 million dollars the last 10 years. I think this huge committment beyond athletic department generated revenues and speaks volumes as to his support. The extent to which a college president gets involved in hiring coaches is an interesting question. Most likely each institution operates differently based on the interest and personality of the respective president. I do not have a good handle on Turner's behind the scene involvement particularly with a strong personality like Orsini and now a much more passive personality AD.
