Maybe someone was privately funding the hotels and said no more?

If thats true, if I were that guy I would say only athletes get rooms no coaches.

redpony wrote:lwjr- I thought maybe it was cost savings as well. However, if they were concerned with costs why would they go to a hotel when they have home games?

redpony, i don't know, like I said it was my initial thought. It is an odd move. If the game had been a
6 pm kickoff I don't think to much of it but with a 2:30 kickoff I find it odd.

I find it interesting because the purpose (IMO) of going to the hotel was to have team meetings, make sure all the players were focused with no distractions, and to make sure they followed their curfew.

So the question is, did they spend the night in a hotel in Dallas and then just travel on Saturday?

Traveling on game day is really bad for the body. Not good for getting the body ready for a game.

That is not a June decision, that is a cost-cutting move.

Is this a sign that the AD is not going to be able to get the school to continue investing in the program? Or is it the sign of a major donor pulling back?

The team was there on Friday. I saw them with my own eyes. I stayed in the same hotel.

Yes. JW Marriott in Houston. They were there when I checked in on Friday. I rode on the elevator with several of them as they were going to dinner. The next morning I was in the lobby when they came out and loaded on the bus.

I don't know why the announcer would say that but I can promise it was not true.

And I might add...the team looked very sharp on Friday in their blue warm ups with red shirts...all that I encountered were well spoken and very polite...great representatives for our university...I think it's sometimes easy to lose sight that there are actually young men...real people...behind those face masks.
