there will be plenty of candidates when we need to make a change.
Guys always emerge, we won't have to worry about a lack of candidates. What we'll have to worry about is this job looking considerably worse the longer we keep June.

They offer has been made. The question is to whether or not he has accepted. Most say the offer would not have leaked had he not accepted already. We will find out probably Saturday night.gostangs wrote:he aint gonna get 6M thats crazy

I thought Tennessee had Gruden as a done deal.

But when is an offer really an offer these days? You can't trust universities any more.

Rumor is that Arkansas made their offer to keep Tennessee out of it.Rebel10 wrote:I thought Tennessee had him.

If indeed arky got Gruden then they got a helluva deal. I have always liked Chucky but wonder if he has the same reluctance for recruiting that our ex-pro coach has.

Arkansas has Wal-Mart money now doesn't it. I'm sure Jerry would throw in a little to keep Arkansas playing at Jerry World

They have pledges of at least 6 million/year. Do not know if they have Gruden but they have the money.

Re: Tedford out at Cal.
Apparently Tedford is owed 6.8 MILLION dollars. He might just decide to sit back and count his money

Re: Tedford out at Cal.
I would suspect that Cal. negotiated that figure downwards by a considerable amount. JMHO. Just like we would like jj to leave but aren't willing to pay the 'exit fee' so a possible option is to both agree on a lesser number.

Re: Tedford out at Cal.
when you fire somebody-you have to pay the contract unless you can argue he somehow breached contract or cheated. Now if he gets another job then Cal might be entittled to a reduction in payout due to mitigated damages. He could take 4 Million now and then be entitled to retain all future employment contract salary or he could sit on his butt and get paid the entire amount over 3 years
