Nobody here is saying JJ is a genius and obviously, the offense struggled all year. And the BE will be tough next season.
That said, we are one of only 30 schools in the country who have gone to at least 4 straight bowls. That is company I enjoy being in, regardless of how many times we throw deep on 2nd and 1 .
30 is quite a bit isn't it. top 25 in everything we do right. LOL. JJ will get to really show what he has next year. If he comes through he will have definitely earned it for sure.

I know I have. I will say it again, June Jones can coach. He just can't recruit to save his life. Additionally, June Jones and this team (applies to each of the last 3 seasons) think they are way better than they are. The evidence is clear. They show up against TCU and teams they respect, they walk all over the worst of the worst (i.e. SFA, Southern Miss) yet think they can sleepwalk through Rice and Tulane and sure enough it comes back to bite us in the end. I know that if we had just taken care of business I would be very pleased with this season as we would be 8-4 or 9-3 (with a decent showing against TCU as opposed to the albatross it was). I chalk up Baylor and Texas A&M to a huge talent disparity which is partially on June, partially on the fans, and partially on the institution. The UCF and Baylor games I attribute to the difficulty of winning on the road. Anyway, I will take a 4th consecutive bowl game. Just think, this season which was a huge disappointment is equal to Phil Bennett's best season at SMU.
The eggs were laid because there was never any real impetus to win more than 6. It's the JJ way. A team hell-bent on running the conference table doesn't lose to Tulane.
And crowing about a "school-record" four "bowls" in four years isn't fair some good SMU teams that didn't toil under bowling-for-mediocrity criteria.
Nice trip for the guys, nice reward, but 6-6 is weak.
We reward mediocrity these days, folks. So take it easy with the "school-record" stuff.

6-6 teams with losses to Tulane and Rice shouldn't be in a bowl.

The fans and the institution didn't have a thing to do with the Baylor and A&M losses. June is the one that recruited and developed talent poorly and called terrible games.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I don't blame any losses on the fans, I blame our inability to successfully recruit against Texas A&M etc. on our lack of fans.
Can't blame the fans for having an admin for so long who was content with ghost town stadiums. We paid JJ to do everything he can to rebuild to give fans to be excited about. Lets just say if I didn't graduate from SMU I would pity this school for having a leach

That is why I said it is a combination of June Jones, the fans, and the institution.

Sorry then I agree with you, it just trifecta of allure that will lead us in a perpetual drought
