This will never happen, unfortunately
Unfortunately? Wow... How does one even think that "thug friendly" degree plans is remotely a good idea? Really? If you think it does, you graduated from the wrong school or completely lost touch of reality, that it won't happen... and not "unfortunately"... because that would be an atrocity to the education system at SMU.

If there's any school I'd like ours to achieve, it's Notre Dame. One of the highest graduating classes in the country with fantastic academics, and top notch athletics.

I don't want to ever be an Alabama if it means we have to take "thugs" to get in football.

As far as athletic-friendly majors... have you heard of The Department of Applied Physiology & Sport Management degree path? Is it for thugs? I sure as hell hope not.

Some pretty wild posts in this thread. We never find out who the academic risks are until after signing date. Some are likely still taking the SAT/ACT and you can't definitely determine their qualification status untl they finish their senior year because of the sliding scale. Some birdies have suggested several may have qualification issues which is why we are right at the signing limit but still offering and recruiting players
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

We use to have PE as a major at SMU before the DP as does Notre Dame. http://pe.nd.edu/

Not sure why a superior athlete who knows they will play in the NFL and is looking for an easy ride through college has to be considered a thug??
I was wondering the same thing myself LA Mustang.
