The more time we can give the new coach the better chance he would be able to salvage some recruits and not be staring off in such a late in the game hole.

I have heard the same thing as IPP from people I trust. Not saying it's a for sure thing, just that (as I've stated numerous times on here) I would be surprised at this point if JJ is back next year.

I agree with IPP, too- if an agreement has been hammered out and the Hawaii Bowl will be JJ's last game, it should be announced ASAP.

Also, Bobby Petrino would be a fantastic hire IMO- we could do much worse, and he could do much better. I understand RGT wants a choirboy, though, which seems hypocritical since he had his mall cop police force withhold the police report from that SAE kid's family when their son died on campus a few years ago. Oh well, carry on.

I think it makes sense for June to work out a deal to leave. Based on the state of the program and the awkward position he is in with us. plus, I can't see him getting real jazzed to fly to Cincinnati or Hartford to play football in November.

I doubt this is true, but if it was, we found both Jones and Brown behind the scenes. I am sure they would already be looking for the replacement.

If JJ is done at SMU, why wouldn't he go back to Hawaii and be the HC or AD? They had a terrible year (1-11)? He could have another big turn-around in the near future there and be a hero.

if this is true, i believe the AD and his team are already working one this. I've said it before, but Hart is on top of this.

Wow, what a difference a year makes. Last year at about this same time many if not most Ponyfans posters were nervous that JJ might leave SMU and were suprised and became upset when the ASU debacle came to light. This year most Ponyfans will be upset and surprised if he stays here and nervous that he may not leave..

Whatever happens I do hope that the Athletic Dept has a very clear plan going forward.

Not necessarily, I think his comments are more an indictment about how much more the school needs to do to be able to bring in top recruits (in terms of majors and easing up on academic requirements, etc). Much has been done already for June, but I do agree with him that if SMU wants to take it to the next level, they need to lessen some restrictions.

We had a terrible year and will probably end up the season at 3-9 with a very young team with about 7 true freshman starters. They will give Chow at least 4 years to get us together. JJ will never be hired back here in Hawaii after how he left us.

Hope he doesn't do the same to you guys where he quit recruiting and game planning well before the Sugar Bowl when he decided he was leaving Hawaii.
