Patterson will never be a media darling, which is why he won't go to the bright lights of Austin. He doesn't like the press-fringe jobs of being a HC. Can you imagine him under TV lights for the LHN 3-4 times a week? Kansas St or TCU, or some other semi-low-profile-high-level school.

Patterson's not leaving TCU for arkansas. Why would you? Uphill battle there, and he's got a great set up at TCU, particularly now in the big 12.

And I can't imagine Saban jumping ship to go to Texas. Why would he do that (unless Texas wants to double his salary)?

Don't see him leaving for the Arky job. I just think TCU is a better job at this point in time. I might have an east coast bias, but I don't see anything particularly prestigious about coaching at Arky (other than the SEC). If he was offered the TN job I can see him jumping at that.

Plus I don't think he is ready to move his trailer from the river in Ft. Worth and put it in a "deluxe" trailer park in the woods near Cletus and Brandine's farm.

Texas could conceivably shatter the previous ceiling for college coaching salaries. What's to stop them from offering $10 million a year to Saban? If he can replicate the success he's had in Tuscaloosa at Texas, that would be a bargain.

Latest rumor is that Peterson will be named Arkansas coach on Tuesday.

If it is Peterson I could easily see Boise St stepping down in relevancy.

I'm sure the PAC people see the same thing. That is why I could never envision Boise St as a serious player for major conference expansion.

The closer to the end the rumors become more credible. That said, Jon Gruden was a "done deal" a couple of weeks ago. Turns out, John Daly who is a friend of Grudens had put him together with Jeff Long and then just assumed it would happen and spread the word it was going down.

Article today on how the "offer" to Les Miles came about. Seems old Les betrayed his friend of many years, Jeff Long, in order to get a raise.

So you never know for sure until it is done.

Listening to a local talk show this morning with a political/sports pundit who is pretty in tune with all that happens in Arkansas. Said for what it was worth, he knows a person who would be involved with any type of contract written at Uof A. He said the person said the name that he was given was Peterson.
