Too many worthless bowls and not enough teams to fill them up...totally bush league BS.

But the coaches get a bonus if they get their team in a bowl game. Got to spread some wealth to the less successful coaches.

Amen to that. Our culture is there are no losers just triers! Trophy and medals for everyone. Hell lets outlaw scoreboards since that will be deemed racist and bigoted eventually if the "wrong" team wins.

Or we can just redistribute the points on the scoreboard to ensure a fair outcome.

Back to the topic, I still think we can win the west div because it will be weak. If we do that then it should gives us more that 5 wins anyway.

Why not just give everyone participation trophies.

We went to the Sun Bowl with a 4-6 record under Hayden Fry.

Maybe we should've fired Hayden Fry........oh wait, we did after a 7-4 season.

This isn't good news for mid majors or the small schools. If you are a bowl game who would you rather invite a 6-6 SMU team with 10,000 season tickets or a 5-7 Texas Tech team with 50,000 season tickets? Another tie breaker is academic progress. Most small schools have higher academic requirements the same cannot be said for all departments at big schools. In the end this is not good news for SMU.

That's not how it works:

Georgia Tech won a Division Championship. Actually, the first criteria are teams that are in Top 5 in APR. There are several more criteria that determine who gets a Bowl at 5-7. Quite frankly the reason that it was an issue is that the NCAA has so many bowl eligible programs on probation this year

This is only bad news for SMU in the rare event that there aren't enough bowl eligible teams. In your above scenario we'd go to a bowl at 6-6 over that 5-7 team no matter how many season tickets they sold.

Widens the gap between the big schools and the nobodies
