If Alabama, LSU etal begin to hit Texas for recruits, it means that they are replacing the SEC recruits that have given them multiple national championships with Texas recruits. It wouldn't surprise me if they did start to add more Texas kids. It means that programs like SMU have to broaden their recruiting markets. The SMU brand is a tough sell in Texas, it would be very tough to sell in Alabama or Georgia.

To the original point, I think the Big 12 brand has about as much value still in Texas as the SEC. People here worship UT, OU, A&M etc...

The value for A&M will be the interest they will garner from all the studs down in the deep South. Also, there is no question that as of right now, the biggest stage to play on is in the SEC, even though that pains me to say, so that there is another pitch..

SMU's problem is that we haven't been able to sell anything schedule wise. Tulane, UAB, Marshall, etc...casual fans, players, they dont really give a {Patterson]

thats why for SMU to gain the interest of Dallas fans and Texas recruits, they would have had to have had great aggressive recruiters and a dynamic offense/team capable of BCS busting. Didn't and wont happen under this staff

end of story.

If we played in a better conference, we'd have access to better recruits.
