Tulane was added by the basketball schools. Not that it ever made sense to add them

They voted Tulane in. Although we don't know who was pushing them either. I suspect Memphis and SMU were really pushing for Tulane. SMU for travel and academic reasons, Memphis for historical reasons. However, I can see their point of view from an RPI standpoint. However, on the flip side, Louisville leaving hurt their RPI as well. The key for them is TV markets.

Turns out there are 7 Bball members and 4 football who can vote right now, including Temple. It's a bluff, we will add BYU for football to get to 14 and then maybe go after 1 or 2 a10 schools in big markets.

Some of those schools have short memories. Where were BB programs like Depaul, Cinncinnati, Marquette, and Rutgers in the 5 years prior to joining the Big East?

If Tulane can pull a couple of good recruits in LA, that don't go to LSU or want to leave the state, by joining the Big East, it is possible they might have a competitve team in a short period of time.

There are some programs that have great histories in the big east that I could ask "What have you done for me lately?" St. Johns, Providence, Seton Hall, Villanova. Is there any discussion of removing them? They do not pull the talent from the NYC and Philly markets they once did.

Depaul was actually better in CUSA than they have been in the Big East. Cincinnati was also better, considering they were a perennial NCAA team and made the final four and later were a 1 seed all before joining the Big East. Rutgers has never done anything. Marquette is the only team that has had a strong resurgence in the Big East. Hopefully SMU can do what Marquette has done.

Show them what the Atlantic 10 gets for TV money and then we'll see.
