Who the hell cares what uniforms we wore in a bowl from 2 years ago?
Those helmets are awesome though.

I concur. Losing to 6-6 Army at home was weak.Stlhockeyguy02 wrote:Hmm...since that Maryland interest "mysteriously went public" less than 72 hours before we "honored our opponent" to hawk black gear and then played a garbage game losing to ARMY....nah, not gonna let it go. Maybe if he won 9 games, which he did in year 1 at Hawai'i with Von Appen's players, then we can let it go.

How about teams just wearing the team uniform. This tricked-up stuff is downright goofy.

Dear Harry Highschoolers:
At the college level, the coaches are pros. Many have coached at the pro level and others want to again.
The idea that college coaches want to have pep rallies to see their team off to a bowl is non-sense.
The idea that they want to wear the school logos and shirts or embrace the mascot is just naive.
The idea that they choose to wear a black jersey at the request of their team is not blasphomy.
They are professionals. Schools are not loyal to them and the idea that they should be loyal to the Bears, the Tide or some other barnyard animal is just plain silly.
Ask Nick Saban when he leaves again, or the head coaches of Wisconsin, LSU, Georgia or Oregon how much loyalty they feel toward the Tide (or Dolphins or Bengal Tigers), Badgers, Tigers, Bulldogs or Ducks. Hell, Georgia was ready to fire their coach midway into this season! LSU was ready to fire their coach all in 2010 which is why Tennessee was attractive. Why should they be loyal?
It is a business! Grow up. Coaches are more loyal to one another than they are to any school, administration or booster. Get a bad name as an employer that breaks his word, or has unrealistic expectations and the profession will blacklist you.
SMU in twenty five years has not had a single head coach move up to another school as a head coach, much less ever become a head coach again at any level--we are a coaches graveyard. We have warts all over us and a record below .500 in the history of the school.
Before you fire June, find out the answer to two questions:
Why did he want to leave a well paying job, without great pressure to succeed in a nice community? Why was ASU or Maryland more attractive than SMU?
Who better would realistically come here.? Not one of the twenty or so new hires would have come to SMU regardless of the price. Would you have been happy with the new coach (Utah State) Wisonsin ended up hiring?

Answer to question 1):
Superior volleyball?
No, the real answer -- he had not the coconuts to make a splash in a REAL pro sports Mecca and a REAL recruiting Mecca.
Answer to question 2):
I'd be happy with ANY HIRE with fire in his belly and a desire and a real plan to go 12-0.
Your premise is BS, BTW. NONE of those coaches would come here for ANY price? Don't make me laugh. They're "pros", remember?
Actually, better questions are:
Why didn't ASU or Maryland hire JJ?
Why is JJ never mentioned for a B12 job?
JJ saw SMU as a sucker for a few 6- or 7-win "bowl" seasons.
He needs to move on.

they look good. One game only, though
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Dear June Jones, This is how you honor the armed forces
Love, love love the helmets, but I acknowledge that this is a school choice and will not diss SMU.
Re: Dear June Jones, This is how you honor the armed forces
If they had gone out with Peruna on the side of the helmet filled with an American flag pattern, people would have gone bananas.
I didn't care then, and I don't care now, but that is a pretty sharp looking lid.
