If Cincy and UConn don't bolt we are okay in the BE.

I agree. I don't think everything has been told to the public. I too am with Stallion. I was hoping for a good national conference...perhaps the first and best truly national conference.

This is a sign that more raids on BE are coming. MWC is not clearly better now but I bet it is soon.

It's about TV money. They must believe that their share as a full member of the MWC will be better than their share as a football-only member of the Big East based on new membership.

So, two reconfigured conferences, east and west, of the best remaining remenants from the BE, MWC, CUSA and WAC, are left to fight over one Access Bowl slot. Can we get excited about this prospect?
So. unless ACC or PAC12 feel a need to expand sometime in the future, SMU and Houston need to press on, as is.

Just anounced that the MWC will help Boise pay the BE exit fee.

My guess is they weighed new TV revenue potential versus travel cost, loss of already established rivalries and like someone mentioned maybe they are hearing things they are not happy about. No one should be surprised by any of this.

Dunno, how about
BE TV deal not good.
After the ACC is picked over, there will be enough quality eastern schools remaining to form an East-Coast conference which would have zero interest in them.
Their chances of an B12 invite are remote.
Would like to hear Mrydel's thoughts on all this....did we really want Boise in our conference?

This is all too confusing for me. But what it looks like is that the ACC will get raided some more and at this stage my hope would be to get into whatever is left of the ACC if there were any way. Why? Larry Brown. I hope we have him involved in the conversation somewhat. I would think he would prefer either Big East or ACC basketball.
All that said, I still wonder why the Big 10 does not appear to want any Texas presence. I think we could fit with them as well as anywhere else. Not saying we are worthy of them but out of all of the big boys, they seem to be the most logical to me.

I don't know if it's on any other thread. I haven't even read it yet. But here is something someone sent me.

Actually the Big 10 is the least logical fit for us because we're not a large, research-oriented state school and we're not members of the AAU.

Interesting, mrydel. I haven't thought about the Big 10 as a possibility, but why not? Ironically, I think of the big four conferences that we are heading towards, a Big XII invite is the least likely. I we are appealing to the PAC-12, Big 10 and SEC due to our markets (Dallas/Houston). It's all about TV revenue and money.

Well see, that is why it is all too confusing for me. And in regard to my Larry Brown remarks, I know he will not be around long, but while he is here I want to give him all the support he wants to help us develop a good competitive BB program.

What about Northwestern?
