I'm sure someone already responded to this, but we would guarantee our tier 2 spot if we go MWC. That alliance they were having with cusa said it all. The big east is our best shot. If big east could hold SDSU and get BYU, and have all the teams schedule BCS schools and we all won that would be huge an really our only shot for being as a conference in the conversation. Yes big east is more likely than not get left behind along with MWC and below. Remember, if we joined MWC, we would be essentially one of their top schools which indicates a degrade whereas big east we are at least north of half which means we are going to a slightly better than cusa (current not future).

I do think we have to sit tight and hope for BYU and maybe Fresno if SDSU is still in the NBE. If the Big 12, B1G, and SEC make a future raid on the ACC, the ACC will see the value in pairing up with the NBE. Better Bball and certainly "as good" football as the MWC. Also, if the others go 16 then PAC may want to go to 16, taking SMU/UH along. Next year is a BCS year for the NBE and still have the Catholic 7. 2014 is the year to see some changes. In the mean time, we must win, win, win in both sports in 2013.

We're going to get a in-conference playoff when there are eventually only 4 major conferences left and for the 4 spots in the playoff. I believe the NCAA currently allows FBS conferences to hold in conference playoffs.

Will someone please explain to me where all this BYU joining the Big East crazy talk is coming from? Why would BYU turn down the Big 12 but accept an invite to a conference made up of one western school? Will never happen, makes zero sense. Sit tight all you want, BYU aint going East..

BYU didn't turn down anything from the Big 12.

If San Diego State is still committed to the Big East I think we need to go all out and dissolve the conference and form an all sports conference to get rid of the Tulane and ECU problem.
West
San Diego State
Fresno State
Nevada
UNLV
SMU
Houston
East
UCONN
Temple
Cincinnati
Memphis
UCF
USF
You solidify the California market. Add the state of Nevada, have a great site for the conference tournament in basketball. Bowl partners in Las Vegas, Liberty, Armed Forces, Tampa Bay, etc.

Yeah right, BYU so turned down the Big 12. I remember something like BYU had their own deal with ESPN and weren't about to trade it for the Big 12 offer.

BYU never had an offer from the Big XII. BYU money doesn't even come close to Big XII money.

My whole point is that in the near future the Big East will never be better than the MWC and the MWC will never be better than the Big East. Each conference has 4 teams worth more than the bottom 4 of the other conference. For example, Cincinnati, South Florida, Connecticut, and Houston are better than San Jose St., Utah State, New Mexico, and Colorado State. Similarly, Boise St., Fresno St., Nevada, and Fresno St. are better than Tulane, ECU, Memphis, and Temple.
BYU won't really tip the scale much nor will a Nevada school defecting. The two conferences pitted against each other will just result in mutual destruction.

That argument can be made about any of the power 5. Even the ACC's top 4 are better than the SEC's bottom 4. The SEC is still clearly better than the ACC. The Big East right now is the better conference. Should it land BYU, it would cement that reputation further.
