Honestly, the AD's and Presidents need to have some courage and stay small. Limiting membership would be the best thing for those schools in the near future and then if the ACC implodes and has to raid our conference, that is good for the teams that get added and the teams that don't will still be the best of the rest and depending on geography can reload at that time or go to the MWC or CUSA. At least that way you would get the strongest possible conference while it lasts.

How about an another scenario? San Jose State and Utah State are joining the MWC this year and both have just enjoyed strong FB seasons. Neither has history with MWC, but are located in larger markets, Bay Area and SLC. Since it is unlikely that BYU can be persuaded to drop independence and SDSU needs western partners, these two schools might be reasonable alternatives with lots of upside in good markets. Would this make SDSU comfortable?

Utah St is in Logan Utah in the far northern border with Idaho. I don't want to play in Logan Utah or Amherst Mass either.

Fair enough. San Jose State only?

Haven't they averaged 10,000-15,000 in attendance pretty recent years-probably not this year but recently

I take that back they had 3 games in their glory 2012 year with 7,000. I with 9,000. For the Big Shootout with Louisiana Tech at end of their big season they had 12,000. Biggest draw was against BYU with 15,000-I'm sure plenty of BYU fans. They have a [deleted] stadium. Why would they be considered?

Any conference that wants to move into big boy country can't have SJSU, Utah State, New Mexico, or Rice associated with them. Tulane at least is committed to build new facilities and try to compete.

If UMASS was going to make a UCONN level commitment to football, then I could see that working out. But I haven't heard that yet
