Does a single dime of taxpayer money supplement either school's athletic budget, including staffing costs?

I don't know about TAMU, but UT's athletic budget surplus is enormous. If anything, they subsidize the rest of the school.SMUer wrote:Does a single dime of taxpayer money supplement either school's athletic budget, including staffing costs?
Nevertheless, the athletic budget surplus is state money. The state government has a legitimate role in maximizing non-tax revenues to the state.
For example, it would be legitimate for the state government to tell UT to stop scheduling [out of state school] in favor of UH. Even though it might not maximize UT's revenues, the increase in revenues to UH might be sufficient to make it a net gain for the state as a whole.

Re: Bill to force a UT-A&M football game
Just a stupid idea and a waste of any taxpayer money. Do the majority of people in this state really care enough about this game to force the issue with a Bill ? I mean aTm made a decision to go a different direction. Both schools said they were not going to play each other for a while. So leave it alone.

While they're at it can the mandate that UT and A&M also play UH, SMU and Rice on a home and home basis?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
