I can't imagine the PAC having any desire to bring SMU into their conference even with a TV market like DFW.

Pretty depressing any way you slice it.

Going to have to have several stellar years in a row (4-5 one or two loss seasons in a row) to get on the national scene and invite to a "power conference" (an undefeated season would help). My dream scenario is that this happens, Dallas embrasses us, and we then get invited to the PAC. Imagine a Rose Bowl victory by the Mustangs! Wow. One can dream.

Last I remember, the Big East was talking about splitting up the media rights. So the NBC offer could just be one tier.

Also, ESPN still has the rights of 1st refusal. So every offer by the other networks that want to bid on the Big East rights are going to be lowball offers.

Do you have a link where they said they'd be splitting it up? That would certainly make this a better deal if it's only for 15-20 football games and some hoops instead of the whole enchilada.

I only hope that some of you are beginning to get it. Leadership is very easy to judge.

Judge the results.

TCU has now has a higher application to acceptance rate than SMU.

Second, they have basically rebuilt their campus, from the quad to the dorms and fraternity houses.

Third, they are successfull in their sports and now part of the the Big 12.

Fourth, Penn State had the most infamous violation ever in college football, but would have been bowl eligible in only one year.

Fifth, Ohio State went undefeated in the first year after firing their football coach and taking on the chin from the NCAA.

In the last 26 years SMU's leadership has done nothing more but use the DP as an excuse for failure.
Pretty bad when your leadership is so concerned with their own legacy, that they are afraid to build the public legacy of an athletic coach and aren't man enough to lead and enjoy the success of their subordinates!

Football and baseball, yeah, TCU is doing pretty good, but have you looked at their basketball record lately? Even lost to the Mustangs! Women's team hasn't yet won a conference game.

Don't forget that according to you our president was the only reason Tulane was invited to the big east as he was the only big east president who had a personal relationship with the Tulane president.

Boring, tedious. Are the value of our degrees eroding in front of our eyes? Apparently.

Agreed, something is not adding up when DePaul, Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall stand to make $5M per school for BB only while we make $2M for FB & BB.

Thought FB was driving this conversation, not BB. And with Cincy, Memphis and CT, this is not that bad a BB conference.

Don't necessarily agree with your take on Tulane, but your overall assessment of GTurner is correct. I said this once to Pye, that his inability to fully appreciate the impact of football in this state would doom his legacy. Same can kinda be said about Turner.

Why is an ESPN blogger reporting about a NBC negotiation? Now, NBC blogger is reporting that according to an ESPN blogger....something does not seem right. Color me skeptical. I am not expecting pie in the sky numbers, but certainly more than is being reported. Does ESPN still have right of first refusal? I thought that went away a few months ago. Either way, I smell a fish.
