The placing of these games sucks for us, especially the three road games in November. With Rutgers coming the week after TCU, it's a strong possibility we start 1-4.

Now that we dropped Baylor - only 4 teams from state of Texas next year. Of course, not the lowest (there was a year we we only played against two TX teams).
Guess I am used to the years I was in school when we routinely played 7-9 TX teams per year.
I must be one of the few who are not excited about playing Rutgers, UCONN, Temple and Cincy.

nobody in Texas gives a [deleted] about any of those schools-average attendance will drop in our great debut into BCS

Hopefully they will get Rice or UTEP on schedule as non-conference in place of a Montana State in the future. Still better than that one year we only played Rice and TCU (and had to play at Cotton Bowl).

Will the yet to be named conference we are joining still be a BCS conference since most of the original teams of the conference will be gone?

As of now, yes. Who knows if that is still something that could change.

Don't chalk that Rutgers game up as a loss just quite yet. It can be hotter than blazes on October 5th, and those northerners will not be used to the heat like we are. I remember a game years ago in Ownby against Wisconsin (the season they went to their first Rose Bowl in years) when the temperature was in the high 80's low 90's in October. We wore them down in the second half and almost pulled off the upset losing by 8. Pray for a heat wave that weekend and watch the Jersey boys peter out as the game progresses.

Rutgers ended up 53 in Sagarin. We were 57. They're not demonstrably better than us and we get them at home.

I say we surprise people and do better then expected. I say this b/c it's time we're surprised in a positive way, damn it.
