To: new conference commisioner. Here is my suggeston and rationale for a new conference name (e.g. save some money on marketing vendors):

....must make some geographic sense

....must be directional (East vs West vs South)

...ideally would include some historical tie to past conference

....should not include a numeric identity (too much instability, no histofical reference)

....should not sound too similar to current conference names

....should "describe" the location of the member schools.

---first letters should produce suitable acronym (consonant-vowel-consonant).

So, here it is: Metro East Conference aka: welcome to the MEC !

I still say go back to the Metro Conference and brand it as "The Met"

The Friendly Union Conference

There's no name that makes geographic sense. It's no longer an Eastern conference with two schools in Texas, one in New Orleans and likely another in Tulsa.

There's also no name that will please everyone. It just needs to be something that's easy to remember and easy to pronounce. The name doesn't define the conference, it's how the conference performs on the field that will determine how the name is perceived.

Taking a cue from the group America, how about "The conference with no name?"

Since we are halfway between fbs and fcs.

North x South (north by south) conference. NXS - could be cool logo

cutting edge (except it will likely be East X West)

please no number, especially when we will begin as a group of 10

I like the Metro or the American Metro Conference. It pretty much tells what we are because most schools are located in major metro areas. It will be deja vu for Cincy and Louisville
