BTW - one of my fraternity brothers was told that the long term plan for SMU Blvd involves moving the fraternities to another location.
I heard that the long term goal is to move frat row to where the parking lot on University Blvd, across the park from sorority row. I don't know how accurate this may be, but it makes logistical sense to me
I was told that at least one fraternity on SMU Blvd was offered the old ATO house.

The Gamma Omegas could have another electrical fire to burn the house down again. Then use the insurance proceeds to buy the old ATO house. BTW interesting fun football fact : SMU All American Jerry Mays, was an ATO. His construction company, built the ATO house.

We need more offices for the fundraisers. Those begging letters don't just mail themselves!

It was not his construction company but his fathers. It was Avery Mays Construction. Jerry was a good friend and frat brother. Outstanding person. In fact, IIRC his dad ran for Dallas mayor at one time.

Must have gotten a helluva discount on that hideous mexican brick. Needs an implosion to improve the looks. When was it built... late 60s, early 70s?

IIRC the one Avery Mays built burned down and a new one was later constructed. Don't recall ever seeing the new one - lived several years in the other one.

Your right, it was his Dad's company. However Jerry took it over, and grew the company. Unfortunately, in the construction business; if you don't continue to grow, you go out of business or get bought out.
The present building dates at least post 1974.
