In the bad old days, in medicine, one wanted their group's name to appear first in the phone book. Seems like a similar strategy here. The alphabet first in Internet seraches might just be a slight marketing edge. I can't whine too much about the name considering we have been in the WAC and CUSA. AAC seems nice.

It's a great show!

Fascinating that SMU is ranked #1 in AAC Endowments at almost $1.2 and ranked #58 in US News Rankings of National Universities, which is second onlyy to Tulane at #51. This excludes USNA, which is ranked at #14 in a different category of National Liberal Arts Colleges.

haha!
It sounds like we're going to be branded as "The American" though. I guess kind of like how the Missouri Valley just goes by "The Valley"
Maybe a logo with the "The" in small letters at the top and "AMERICAN" in big letters with an American flag in the lettering? Works for me.

Will the new logo spell American to emphasize the brand?

Double A, C. Not bad, at least we'll be listed first among the FBS alphabetically. We need a great logo, though.

My concern is that in DFW, where we have enough problems garnering support, we will struggle with the fact that when people see we play in the AAC, which they have never heard of, they are going to assume it is a DI or DIII conference.
Our marketing department is going to have to work overtime to get..... oh....ooops.

My guess is that there is going to be some deal with American Airlines down the road regarding sponsorship of championships, etc.

Remember that American has major hubs in Dallas, as well as in Philadelphia after the USAirway merger.
