Does anyone know the facts? Are we over budget by any significant amounts and facing delays? What about Moody? Is it on budget?
Moody is about 17MM over budget. Don't know specifics, just that it is turning out to be way more expensive than originally thought............And fall '14 was always the target date for the dorms.....
Discovery work will kill you every time. Someone didn't do a good enough risk analysis...

Anyone know the complete team on Moody? Architect, engineers, contractors, etc?

I believe the architect is Art Vandelay - contractors Alf & Ralph (who did the renovation of the Oliver Douglas place)
Tom will have a more definitive answer.

I think there's also a Steve on the project. Or maybe a Ken.

A good buddy said that while Moody construction is going well, it is way overbudget. Like someone above posted, when you start excavation on a building as old as Moody you are going to find a lot of problems you probably didn't count on prior to the project.
All that said, I think we are all just going to have to be patient with all the construction on campus. By 2015 the vast majority of these projects will be completed and the SMU campus will be an absolute gem. SMU was already one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation but after all the construction is completed we will have a campus that plays second fiddle to no one.

we are always over budget because we dont procure out construction correctly. we need to bid more instead of all the cronyism that occurs now under the "we build 100 yr buildings" b.s.

Doesn't matter the cost - as long as it gets built. The original SMU Coliseum project ran out of money - hence the concrete seating in the north end. It took the Moodys to fork over the additional cash.

At Stanford the buildings that come in under budget are managed by John Arillaga a billionaire developer who has given hundreds of millions to Stanford but he has his quirks too.

I thought someone said the delay in the tennis stadium is almost resolved and that a construction starts again sometime this summer.

Thanks. Do we know if we have an outside construction management team or are trying to do this inhouse? Re: money, I doubt whether or not David Miller is too excited, knowing that his major contribution will barely cover 60% of the cost overrun at Moody.

David's pockets are deep.... real deep. To think he did not anticipate cost overruns is naïve.
