I saw Gottschalk go down and was helped up, and limped around for a while after that. Does anyone know if it's anything serious?

Burcham has a lot of talent, and the staff loves him. He is going to be really good for us this year.

From what I saw and what I read, GG threw a much more catchable ball all spring, and there were a lot fewer drops for the spring as a whole.

Then we have a spring game with people around and he reverts to throwing the ball a billion miles an hour. I would not discount that. But I will also say that I wouldn't take from a single practice that Burcham is a better practice QB than GG. GG looks really good in most practices.

That said, the short pass is how you get the 67% completion percentage in this offense. If GG is around 50% during the season, he won't last very long in there because they don't have to hold Burcham back to redshirt.

Based on history, I do not see Jones giving anyone but Gilbert snaps unless there is an injury. I hope however that he will at least let Burcham get some game experience so he will be ready in 2014.

Talked with some of the coaches at the SMU Football golf tourney ( thanks be to RGVPony) and they said with GGs speed and with all the short quick passes and a quick offense, the D and LB's won't be able to 'spy' on GG ....so there will be gaps and GG has the green light... at 4.6 and 230...he will b a beast.

Definitely. GG probably won't end up in the Heisman conversation, but he will certainly take the new conference by storm. I can't wait!

Sounds like a success. Was it well attended with fans & families?

Garrett Gilbert was arguably our best player during the last four games of the season last year. Combine that positive momentum with a full spring and offseason and things are looking up for him and our offense. Burcham has a lot of talent, but he's still just a RS Freshman. Let him play in mop up duty and learn the offense so that he's ready to roll in 2014.

I agree with both comments. On the other hand, if JJ goes to forth, you are not going to come back. Ask the QBs who cpmpleted their eligibility in Washington.

Based on history we will have a new starting QB this year......

I do not understand why JJ will not give the back up QB playing time when a game is won and out of hand.
Mac Brown did the same thing with Colt McCoy's senior year and a certain freshman QB never really received any playing time. It did not matter until Colt was injured in the National Championship game, not saying Texas would have won had G2 received more playing time during the regular season but it would not have hurt.

Oh yeah, I remember a lot of Bevo fans [deleted] after the title game about Mack keeping McCoy in blowouts to pad his stats for the Heisman instead of giving Gilbert snaps. In fact they still [deleted] about that to this day.

I think that JJ did that last year so he could give GG as many reps with the offense as possible because of the limited practice he got before the season started. With that being said, I hope the backups get some good reps during (hopefully) many of our blowouts this fall

pony147, that is not a bad point I still think you give the back up some playing time in case G2 goes down.
