this is correct, but since it is north Texas state it is easy to forget it exist (even thought it rates pretty good for a D.O. school)

what I should have said is Fort Worth wants a research oriented medical school that will offer MD Degrees and that will have a presence that sticks in people's minds and that helps create a medical center area VS just a school that people let slip out of their mind when they talk about medicine in Fort Worth

Thanks for the recognition that a new Natatorium is a priority. If we had more land, a IPF combo could work, but land constraints will make this approach unlikely.

The land is there. The way I heard it, the IPF is slated to stretch across what is now Westcott Field, cutting out the last (east) row of parking in the parking lot behind the freshman dorms. Soccer then would move to what is now the Pettus practice field. Both locations have been agreed upon, but funding is not complete. I think they both have to be funded, because soccer has to have a new home for the IPF to take over its location.

That is correct. Hart has said as much on multiple occassions

The soccre fields will be moving to pettus and the IPF will be at wescott. Go back and watch Hart's interview with Ponyfans (Part 2 and 3). He said IPF to Wescott and Soccer to petus. We had a big long thread about this awhile back as well as to whether a soccer field would fit at petus and we came to the conclusion that it would. I'll see if I can find it

Can you elaborate? Are you saying Dark Horse is mistaken or it would be a mistake to do this in your opinion? If the latter, then why?

Awhile back couch'em made a nice little picture of how the field would fit at Pettus. Check out the thred and graph. We already had this same ridiculously long argument three months ago.

Soccer to Pettus, IPF to Wescott is the admins plan.

/Heard through the grapevine from a fellow Phi Delt that the fraternity has been told that they'll need to relocate the house in the next 5-7 years. While this certainly isn't news, I hadn't heard that timetable before. Any idea what is going in place of the fraternity houses now?

Everyone I have talked to, including Rick Hart, has said soccer will eventually will go where the current Pettus practice field is. Plans could change, but that's the plan at the moment. When that happens remains to be seen.

Which would make it one of the most attractive soccer venues in the nation.

Administrative buildings I believe Houses will be relocated to the street where SAE, LXA, etc are. It remains to be seen if they will get true "houses" like they have now or buildings that are more of "lodge" style with just a couple of rooms. It hasn't been determined yet how much the individual frats are going to have to pay for their new homes.

You are correct Pony Snob. They will go on the street as the pike, sae and rambda houses and also on the street just to the north of it. Admin buildings on SMU blvd.

As far as timing, I've heard from my frats old president (who was also on the student redvelopment commision or whatever the hell it was called) that if George and Laura deem the houses to be unsightly next to their new library, they will work to move everyone and get it all started in the next 2-3 years. If not, the 5-7 year time period is what they are thinking about, but nothing is set in stone. Moving them is in the "long term goals of the university". I heard from a friend in another frat that Turner straight up told their EC that it would be 10-15 years (this was a year or two ago)

Costs vary by house, but I've heard from multiple people in different frats it's anywhere from 1.5-3 million. Once again, nothing completely set in stone. And of course, SMU would still own all of them and charge outrageous rent and maitenance costs. It's the biggest scam of all time.

Admin buildings? That sucks. That's a pretty prominent stretch of campus, I was hoping they could do something better than that.

I would imagine the other frats would get true houses since SAE and LXA did a few years back. Seems unfair to relegate the other chapters to second-class status.

What about Sigma Chi? Don't they "own" their house or something bizarre compared to the rest of the chapters on campus? Can they maintain their spot on the corner next to the Blanton Building?
