I'm sure that UH, SMU, Cincinnati, BYU, and several others have at least had informal talks with the Big 12. I don't think the Big 12 does anything until the dust clears with the other conferences. Things look to have stabilized for now. Maybe some conference does something to set off another shift but it seems like for the next 3-5 years that the AAC will be the home for both SMU and UH.

Every school is talking to other conferences.

Doesn't mean anything will happen

I still think it's funny JFrog is in your sig, and was the main banner behind the LB PC.

I always wondered why we made that big marketing blitz with the lil12 several years back??? It never made any sense unless someone within the administration was tipped off by someone inside the conference telling us to make a play at the time. Because the big risk would be a lot of egg on our face if there was a 'no' coming from the conference. Nevertheless, that is what we got along with a lot of embarrassment. It would be very interesting why it all happened? Who put us up to it???

Really, I felt no embarrassment at all, in fact I was happy to see us push for an invite. And we got one, to the Big East. Well, that only worked out semi-well (we got Larry Brown out of it), but we have an opportunity to turn that into a plus in the future. I hope we're still taking to the Big 12, the PAC 12 and the SEC. And I hope Hart is already talking to coaches about after JJ.

Why UH and SMU shouldn't be in Big12? Poor support and not bringing any revenue to the table. why should they be in the Big 12? With bowl eligibility at 6 the upper guys need some extra wins to be sure they get their six wins at least every year. With TT and BU on the upswing, it would make it easier to get a couple to 3 wins in conference and 3 in nonconference most years to keep the alumni and those fat coaches/ad salaries going. Since the support at SMU is so bad, it won't hurt for them to be a sub 500 team most years anyway and The Boulevard would be at it's all-time best irregardless. The tv markets are helped and SMU can slowly build in all sports to compete with the revenue gained and improve facilities like Baylor. If K State, TCU and Baylor can do it then anyone can. Eventually and hopefully sooner than later maybe Dallas and North Texas area support is generated

ESPN and DeLoss Dodds are the only parties that are important in regards to expansion. I don't see the advantage for UT by allowing UH and SMU into the conference. Two more mouths to feed.

That does make some sense but with the understanding that the conference would go to 10 game schedules like the Big 10 and SEC are suggesting to get more inventory for their networks. Trying to dig for any evidence that supports this rather unlikely scenario.

How about this incentive? SMU agrees that it's share of Big 12 TV revenue shall be $3.0 million for 10 years while it grows its program. The increased TV exposure and major conference status should help recruiting. The Big 12 gets a new conference mate at a bargain price for 10 years.

MV pony,

I've often thought that was our best option for getting into a bigger conference. Either we'd buy our way in or agree to a vastly reduced TV dollar amount. I wonder if the NCAA would take issue with this sort of agreement.

Why would the NCAA care? We are in year 1 of a 4 year phase-in as far as conference revenues go...

I just spoke with a woman who works for the Longhorn Network, along with her husband. She and I were at a funeral, but her husband couldn't make it because he was out west talking with the Pac-12, trying to figure out how to make the Pac-12 work with the LHN included. In her estimation, Texas will be in the Big XII another 5 or 6 years.

SMU is in year 1 of 5 of June's master recruiting plan (like always).
