i agree 6-6 would be a great accomplishment, but also agree it is likely to cause JJ's departure if it is that or less. 6 wins with our competition is no big accomplishment - certainly not worth 2.3M a year.

This season I hope Louisville or Cincinnati have the stuff to make the BCS bowls. I also think if Gilbert and Shead do what they were touted to do out of high school we just might outscore most of our opponents and have a good year. That would mean no buy out of Jones and let him retire after 2014, best case scenario. In 2015 we need THE COACH of our lifetimes here at SMU to pull us through the next 5 years. A Ron Meyer or a Morrison, HOF type guy.

I wonder if LB can coach football?

Why are you rooting for cincy or Louisville to win the conference over SMU? That makes no sense to me.

Especially Louisville. If SMU does not win the conference I hope a team who will not be leaving after this season wins it.

The media loves cinderella teams. We could be that team given some breaks on the field.

In my afterlife, I hope SMU finally gets the invite to the Pac 12 or SEC

I am excited to see what Hal Mumme brings to this offense.

I think next year's offense will be a complete and utter wild card with Mumme in the mix.

if he has the reins that is.....

could be really exciting to see a pass centric offense that is REALLY innovative instead of our re-tread O. Gilbert and Snead will be interesting combo - obviously love Line but it has been a long time since we had a RB the safeties need to worry about.

June still has the reins so the amount of innovation in the offense depends on how much of Mumme's ideas he wants to implement. I believe he said he only implemented 20 percent of Jason Phillips ideas in last year's offense.

I think there is a real chance that this is not functionally true.

Functionally speaking he'll still be calling the plays and installing the offense (at least that's what he said) so it's still his show. People are likely overstating the influence Mumme will have on the offense (just like they did with Phillips last year).

People are understating it.
