The experience he will bring to the line is what makes him special. He has competed and played at a high level and knows what it takes to play at the next level. One has to love getting that. Does this improve our O line wherei it isn't as much of a question mark this fall?

It's not like this guy was a starter at Texas, his addition doesn't all of a sudden make the o-line a unit of strength. A one-off doesn't really help us that much unless he's coming in to start (which hopefully he will).

What I like is that Ashcraft's bio on the Texas website said he has played in 35 games.
My degree wasn't in math, but if you add up the games UT athletics said he played each season - 11 in 2010, 12 in 2011 and 13 in 2012 - that adds up to 36.

Is UT known for math? Serious question.

encouraging, to be sure...but good OL play requires a lot of communication and chemistry. Let's hope he fits in and can take some of the pressure off our younger guys

Even if he just played special teams....we've won and lost games due to special teams.

Hard to complain about this one, except I wish he had 2 years of eligibility remaining.
I'm really, really shocked by Lowe. Particularly the lack of information regarding his Spring performance as I haven't seen him anywhere in the depth charts. One would think that the Texas transfer lands a starting guard spot and then you would have:
LT: Gottschalk
LG: Ashcraft?
C: Lasecki
RG: Weeks
RT: Lowe
With Rice, Myers, Hughes, and Briggs providing quality depth at the guard and tackle positions (and Reich, Walling, and Miller in a pinch while the others grow and learn like Chamagua). That's a big line with lots of talent.

Interesting. When I went to the roster to pull these numbers, Lowe was not there. Has he left?!?
LT: 6-5, 300
LG: 6-5, 315
C: 6-3, 288
RG: 6-5, 300
RT: 6-5, 275
That's a quality, BCS sized line. If you throw in Myers and Briggs it's even bigger.
