Re: At least we're in the conversation
We are not that far from tech talent wise, and we do have a far superior coaching staff, although they are not a far superior recruiting staff. First game for a new head coach is never perfect. I am not saying we win but three touchdowns is just a plea for attention. I think of the three big 12 games this one is our best shot. It is within 7. TCU and a&m are routes in my view.

Take his swag and shove it up his [deleted]. Enough is enough. Year six with offensive & defensive systems completely implemented and the roster has run through 150+ of this staff's own players. Get it done and slap the sh*t out of the boy wonder and put the tortilla throwers in their place.

Re: At least we're in the conversation
If our offense had played decently, we would have been in the Baylor, TCU, and A&M games last season.
Unfortunately, it was a preview of a season where the offense struggled for consistency, and relied on the defense to score TDs until they came together a little bit later in the season.
Tech will be a below average big twelve team next year. If we lose at home by 21 to them in the opener, we are going to struggle to win anything next season.
With significant improvements in scheme, a QB in the offense for a second year, and improvements at OL and WR, this will be a much better offensive team next year.
I expect to beat Tech, but lose to A&M and TCU because they are away games at top 25 teams and I don't think we will be top 25 next season because of the inexperienced offensive and defensive line. But with an improved offense, and a really good secondary and LB core, I do expect us to be better than last season.

June Jones struggled in every season opener as a college coach, including struggling or losing against FCS teams with some of his better Hawaii teams. I cant recall him ever winning an opener of this type.

Tech was 8-5 is the Big12. We needed to injure seveal opposing QBs to sneak into bowl eligability in a weak CUSA, and lost to Tulane.
TCU is a rout but tech is not?
Tech beat TCU in FW last year.
We got humiliated by Baylor. Tech lost to Baylor in OT.
3 TDs is not far from the average loss number in the article.

Re: At least we're in the conversation
There are so many unknowns going into the opener for both teams, but for a bit of perspective Tech was about 16 places in front of us in final rankings last year. It ought to be a fantastic gameday atmosphere if we can keep the temperature at bay

Re: At least we're in the conversation
I'm with couch'em. I just don't see it happening. Everyone wants to talk about gilbert being in the system for another year, well look how well that worked out at Texas. We're a subpar teeam that is reloading with a qb that throws the ball 100 mph for 5 yard throws and throws that same ball 5 feet over his recievers head. Sure he got a little better towards the end of the year, but sh*t with iceing on it is still sh*t. I see our OL as still having quite a few issues and there's a lot of inexperience all around.
And the fact that its at the Ford? Won't matter. They will be probably be just as many tech fans as us which is f*cking pathetic, but thats the reality of apathetic little shcool. At best, its a nuetral site game.
Junes teams are never ready for openers. They don't hit beforehand. Maybe if this was a week 3 game, I'd feel a little better about it, but even then I don't think it would matter. I agree that Tech is our best shot at a non Montana OOC win, but I just don't see it happening unfortunately.
Don't get me wrong, nothing would make me happier than to see gilbert playing like he did in high school, but hasn't done that for 4 freaking years. Maybe the Run n' Raid will be the next big thing. Maybe June will call draws and bubble screens every play just like always....

I do not normally care about typos on here, but in light of the post linked above, I found some parts of this post very entertaining:

Re: At least we're in the conversation
OK, we start slow regardless of who the head coach is. Gregg, Rosley, Caven Bennett and Jones have all had slow starting teams.
That said, I think TTU is a real possibility for us to change the opening game against a quality opponent blues.
We are not loaded but we have significantly better talent this time against TTU than the last time we played them. And a bit more depth which has hurt us in the past.
GG will be more experience and comfortable with the O as compared to last year’s opening game. With a couple of receivers stepping up, the O could be a significant challenge for TTU. And GG has introduced the QB run option. That puts additional pressure on Ds.
If the D can step up early, we have a good chance in this game.

Of course we have a chance in this game. I hate to keep bringing the rating services into these things over and over and over, but per Sagarin we'd be a mere two point dog at home against Tech based on last year's teams. It's not like they should be three touchdown favorites as some have ridiculously suggested. I hope our team is expecting to kick some West Texas butt
