I'd take Zach Dansby the TE... 6'5" 215lbs..

Other than him the receivers for Westlake are average in terms of athleticism but are well coached. Brandon Box is probably the best receiver at 6'2" 190 but I was told his forty time was a 4'7". Haven't heard of any of them having offers I could be wrong though.

Oh...maybe that's why some of those passes had to have a little something taken off of them in the game film.

So after Gilbert graduates next year, we'll have Burcham, Preston, Cassel, Kent, Colbert, Severt and that walk-on who's arriving this fall from California.
Finally: depth at the position!

Hopefully somebody will get some meaningful playing time this year out of that group due to us laying the wood on an opponent......

I'm really impressed with this kid. I think he could be a great pick.

I like the depth at this position that Jones and the coaching staff have built up, which will lead to intense competition and hopefully a great replacement after Gilbert's final year.

Depth? Next year, SMU will have 4-5 QBs on the roster none of whom are particularly or mildly highly recruited. Every school has 4-5 guys named "Joe" at QB. Many schools on our schedule have 4-5 guys at QB on the roster all of whom were highly recruited. Looks like the same old grab-bag to me with SMU hoping to develop one of another long list of sleepers (and looking for the next UT or BCS transfer). Anybody remember the "depth" we had that would have started without Gilbert?

come on stallion. I know at least half of our recruits only held offers from Louisiana Monroe, but in case you haven't kept up, all of our recruits have been total diamonds in the rough.
Didn't you know that June has put several players in the NFL recently? That just means he is the best person ever at evaluating talent that no other coach in the country can notice. Who cares about offers from any school outside of the Sun Belt?

I'm excited to see what Burcham can do.
I'd also be interested to know how long the leash is on GG. Padron was coming off a solid 2010 and June benched him after what, two drives of the 2011 season?

If by two drives, you mean he was allowed to throw the ball a total of 4 times - yes.

This kid looks good. Lets see what he does in high school. I think his rating will go up after this season. Of course he has to mature. But, he looks to have some strengths that could develop quite well. Plus, Colbert is good - perhaps better. Those guys deserve a chance to develop before the alumni gives up on them.
