Say what you want about JJ - but the dude can sure get the pub.
I've never known a time since the early 80's when SMU has had this high a profile in the national media.
You have to hand it to the big money supporters of SMU - they have stepped up and spent the money to get big name coaches in JJ and Brown that have raised our profile way above what our teams deserve.
We are definately punching above our weight.
My dream scenario is that LB takes us to the NCAA tournament and that JJ goes 8-4 with a high scoring, fun offense to watch. These two things will build excitement and you will see more fans attend games because the teams will be fun to watch.
JJ's SMU teams are so much better than Bennetts'. His teams were painful to watch.

The sideline/bench area always seemed to be in total chaos during the Bennett era.Pony81 wrote:JJ's SMU teams are so much better than Bennetts'. His teams were painful to watch.

If we go 8-4 we will win the conference and be in a BCS game imo.

We definitely have a fighting chance in the American. Louisville is the class of the league and they lost to Uconn last season (and we don't play them). I think Cincy barely squeaked by Duke in their bowl game. Rutgers is inconsistent too. GG might be the most highly regarded returning QB in the conference after Louisville's qb. I'm excited about this R and S 2.0. We shouldn't get bogged down in comparisons to our Big12 and SEC competition at this point. We just need to worry about winning our conference.

Sounds great, just haven't seen more than a handful on the field.

I think we could hold our own against Wake, GTech, Duke, Maryland, BC, Vandy, Kentucky, and Mizzou when it comes to football recruiting in this area. I volunteer to take June and Hal to the Varsity.Harry0569 wrote:Tons of competition as ATL/GA area is a hotbed for SEC/ACC coaches, but I'd love it. I'd even let JJ stay at my housedirtysouthpony wrote:JJ and Mumme are highly regarded coaches here in Georgia. They could clean up if they ever decided to recruit this area.
